The Life Story of Catherine
Catherine Fay Miller was born May 13, 1933 in Kingsbury, Texas to
the union of Leon and Luella Miller. She was one of five children.
She attended Rosenwald School in Luling, Texas.
At an early age she became a member and was baptized at New
Birth Baptist Church (Nash's Creek). Catherine later moved to San
Antonio and became a member of East St. Matthew Baptist Church.
She truly loved the Lord and served him with faithfulness and dedi-
cation. Sis Roy served in various auxiliaries throughout her
membership, including the Choir, Mission 1 & 2, Sunday school
teacher, Asst. Sunday School Superintendent, Musician, and Hospi-
tality Chair. She was also bestowed the honor and recognized as one
of ESMBC Women of the Year. Sis Roy was an active member of
the Guadalupe Asgociatipr and the City Wide Mission.
Whether you know her as Mrs. Roy, Sis. Roy, Ms. Catherine, Ms.
Cat, or Granny, her kindness and good deeds were far reaching. She
was an active participant Hof the Claude Black Community Center.
She participated, and in some cases, facilitated the 60- plus
organization, art class, gardening, bible study, sewing, quilting and
crafts. She volunteered in the community for various organizations.
Catherine was known to encourage the young and old; nurture
babies and seniors; and to love her neighbors, friends and family.
Catherine is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur Roy;
Daughter Patricia Briggs Ali; 2 brothers, Leon Miller Jr. and Baby
Miller. She leaves to celebrate her life; 2 daughters, Grace and
Nancy Roy; 4 grandchildren, Angela Richardson (Lamont), Mecca
Ali Taylor (Devin), Bilal Ali, and LaTavia Briggs; 13 great grandchil-
dren, 5 great-great grandchildren; Goddaughters, Louise Braziel
Benson ( Lonnie), Cynthia Ann Cherry, and Leticia Martin; sister,
Effie Sowell, brother, Henry Ray Miller; sister-in-law Barbara Flint,
brothers-in-law, Preston, Marvin and Thomas Roy; host of beloved
nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She will be remembered and
