Gerald Browne is a master of
elegant suspense. He displays
his story telling finesse again
in his new 18MM Blues.
Set against the backdrop of
the secretive, highly lucrative
international gem market, this
is a mystery of murder and
tiles, the total loan chain, the
big game muzzleloader, small-
bore for small game, or the
muzzleloading sidearm just to
mention a very few points.
The book is conversational
in style and very much a how
to text. Black and white pho-
tos show techniques and many
kinds of shooting artifacts,
weapons, accessories, and gun Stephenville

In April and May, nature’s

era and blooming trees of ev-

of bluebonnets leave a pur-
ple haze across the land. In-
dian paint brush, wild phlox,
evening primrose and so many
others blooming along the
roadside makes it difficult to
concentrate on driving the
highways of our state. If you
possibly can, get out and en-
joy this spectacular sight.

but he isn’t the man he used to
be. Out of a job and out of mar-

with Julia, a beautiful eccen-

Back then, off the Burma

journey into th© upsidedown
world of the 7.3 Americans
who work the night shift.
The author traveled all over
the U.S. learning the night-
time work ethic. He heard
Trappist monks chant on a
Utah mountain, trolled with
herring fishermen, hunted
poachers with a game war-
den, shared a wedding in a
Las Vegas chapel before mov-
ing to other local sites, and
sorted packages from Federal
Express. The result of his ob-
servation is an intimate and
rich journey that captures the
mood, the feel, and the texture
of after hours America.
