His mother said he was
singing before he could.walk.
Ronnie Harvick’s heritage is rith
in singing and his roots run deep
in music tradition. His mother,
Lois Ripley Harvick’s family
grew up singing together and
later at the Ripley children began
to have families of their own, the
tradition was passed on to the
next generation. Therefore it was
only natural for Ronnie to sing..
He was quite a little “songbird”
by the time his brother, Kenneth,
came along, just two years after
Ronnie was both/By die time he
was four and Kenneth two, they
were performing duets at family
gatherings (and anywhere else
their proud Dad could coax them
to sing).
When Ronnie started school, it
wasn’t long until he was called
on to sing at school activities. As
he grew older, when a singer was
needed, he was the person who
thought of first. With his

After high school graduation
he continued to entertain in the
Gustine community and at school
functions. Ronnie remained in the
town where he had grown to
manhood which was a place that
he loved. So he became a dairy
farmer, continuing to sing and
make Gustine his home, where he
had many friends whom he
always met with a smile. During
his years of hard work at farming
. and tending his dairy—(work

I Some of the better known
I places where Ronnie has
I entertained were at concerts in
Oklahoma three different times.
One of these concerts was
featuring Rona Reeves. He has
made several appearances at the
Stephenville opry. He has sung at
many clubs and restaurants where
live entertainment is a specialty
as well as food.
On one trip to Six Flags,
I* Ronnie was requested to make a
tape at a studio. They did not
have a private taping, but as he
I sang it was broadcast through
loud speakers that could be heard
over the grounds at Six Flags. He
sang two Elvis Presley songs and
his teenage daughter could
convince NO ONE that it was her
dad singing. Their minds were
made up that it was Elvis.
Another time while traveling
by plane, after having checked
his guitar and luggage and
settling down for a relaxing ride,
he was amazed and embarrassed
to see the stewardess coming
down the aisle bringing his guitar
to him, requesting that he sing to
the passengers.
In Austin at a nightclub
featuring Faron Young, Ronnie
was asked by Faron himself, to
sing on his show. As he sang his
first song, dancers stopped to
listen. Ronnie never did
recognize his own talent for what
it is worth, so he could not
comprehend for a little while,
why the dancing stopped. He and
his wife were invited to stay at
the hotel where the Young group
was staying, and also to take their
meals with them. But Ronnie
always considered his love for his
work was more important since it
was his livelihood, so they
graciously refused to stay and
came home.
Any artist whose songs
Ronnie sings, he can easily
