additions and changes and
keeping us and our citizens
abreast of cost estimates. The
final cost estimates for renovating
the 6867 square foot building are
$700,000 with an additional
$70,000 in contingencies. We
have been in contact with the
Rural Development Office, a part
of the United States Department
of Agriculture. We are
considering a 40 year loan with a
very low and competitive interest
rate (around 4.5-4.625% fixed).
We have hopes of obtaining a
grant through Rural Development
Office of up to $50,000. These
terms are excellent and make this
project feasible for our city and
our taxpayers. The city council
realizes this is a large amount of
money, but
consideration feel that it is the
right direction for our city. As
always, we make our decisions
with our tax rate in mind and
carefully consider how taxpayers
could be affected by such a
project. We would be glad to
answer any questions that you
may have about this matter.

Dear Citizens,
I am writing to give you an
update as to where the City of
Coqianchc currently stands in
relation to our renovation project
of the old post office building on
East Grand. I would like to
you a historical perspective of
where we started back in 2001
and let you know of all the
progress we have made on this
project over the past few years.
As all of you know, the
Comanche City Council
purchased this building back in
June of 2001 with the hope of
restoring this historic structure
and making it our new city hall.
The City of Comanche paid for
this building in full at the time of
purchase. We made a
commitment to make sure that it
could be renovated to maintain its
historical heritage. We also
wanted to make Sure it could be a
viable city hall to meet the needs
of our community today as well
as in the future. We took
advantage of grant dollars that
were available to help offset the
cost of the architecture fees and
employed Hahnfeld, Hoffer, and
Stanford to serve as our
architectural firm. Mr Hoffer has
done an exceptional job of long-term planning process for
working on the floor plans for
our city hall with much input
from the city council and city
employees. Many of you have
CALC KICKS OFF THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR 1004-2005: Comanche Accelerated Learning Center opened its doors to students on
Monday, August 16,2004. “What an exciting time for Comanche ISD,” says Vickey Cavitt, principal. Forty-three students were present on
the first day. “The staff and students are working diligently to come together as a team.” She says that the first days will be spent participating
in team-building skills and games that allow them to leam names and something about each other. In the coming days, students and staff will
work together to come up with a social contract. The social contract is a component of the Flip Flippen, Capturing Kids Hearts training that
the staff attended this summef. All students and staff participate in the formation in the formation of the contract. Once^consensus is reached,
according to the Cavitt, the contract is adopted and signed and serves as the discipline model for the campus. The goal is to teach students to
become self-managing so that they can become successful. Accelerated instruction will begin on Thursday with each student having been given
a schedule tailored to his or her personal needs. Other ALC employees are Melinda Bloyd, Susan Jones, Staci Taylor, Tammy Hancock, John
Pike, and Martha Cottrell.
