Hospital in Clarksville, who is
improved and back at home. Sgt.
Ward will be reassigned within
a short time.
A message stating that Mrs.
Maggie Randolph of Hastings,
Okla., had suffered a stroke and
was in the hospital, was received
Tuesday by relatives here. Mrs.
Bunch Humphreys and Joe Jones,
Mrs. Randolph’s sister and bro-
ther, left immediately and were
accompanied by Mrs. David An-
derson, Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Irene
Garrett.

left March 20 for an overseas des-

Texarkana Sunday to see their
son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
Glen East.
Mrs. Silas Howell has returned
to work at Ann’s Cafe after an
absence of two weeks. She had
been attending Mr. Howell in the
John Sealey Hospital at Galves-
ton,. who had undergone surgery.
Mr. HoWell is at home and very
much improved.

medical patient this week at
Grant Hospital in Deport.
Mr. and Mrs. John Markovic of
Dallas, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ot-
tinger and grandson, Troy Der-
rell Bice of Hagansport, were
week end guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Tom Watters and boys.
Mr. and Mrs. John D. Wilkin-
son were hosts to a luncheon
Sunday, honoring their son, John
Neil, and daughter, Mrs. Henry
Hudson. Present for the occas-
ion were Mr. and Mrs. John N.
Wilkinson, Sandra Jean and
Ethel Rae of Marshall, Mrs. Hen-

tended the funeral Monday of

Larry Meredith, pastor of the
Methodist Church, and his moth-
er have moved to the home of
Mrs. Lula Thomas, which they
will occupy during the construct-
ion of the new parsonage. Mrs.
Thomas will be in Austin on an
extended visit with her sons, Don-
ald and Julien and families.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hardin
of Kilgore, Mr. and Mrs. Garland
Parker of Dallas, and Mrs. John
A. Hardin of New Boston, were
here last week end to attend Mr.
Bob Hardin, who has been ill the
past ten days. However, he is
improved some at last report.
Mrs. Leonard Hardin had spent
Thursday and Friday in the Har-
din home.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Craven,
Mr. uid Mrs. Joe Pittman, San-
dra and Brent, Mr. and Mrs. Burl
Little, Burl Jr. and Marian all of
Sherman, were guests in the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Cra-
ven Sunday afternoon. Ernest
and Ben Craven are brothers, and
their wives are sisters; the Mmes.
Pittman and Little are sisters and
also daughters of Mr. and Mrs.
Ernest Craven. It was a surprise
get-together for them.
Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Roark and
two children of Waxahachie,
stopped by and spent a few hours
wit his grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. B. M. Roark on their way
to Norfolk, Va., where he is sta-
tioned in the Navy.

for Ft. Benning, Ga., for two
years army service. John T.
graduated March 20 from Col-
lege of Education at Knoxville, /
Tenn., with a B. S. degree. He
taught one week at Oak Ridge
before coming home. John T.
will go into the army as second
lieutenant, having had summer
training in the ROTC.

Miss Virginia Donaldson arriv-
ed Tuesday from New Orleans,
La., for several days visit with
Mr. and Mrs. Travis Hale, Mr.
and Mrs. A. L. Buckman, Mrs.
Bess Pope and other friends, be-
fore leaving for Dallas, where she
will have five more months train-
ing at St. Paul School of Nursing,
before graduating. During this
time she will take up communi-
cable diseases, nursing at Park-
land Hospital, plus general medi-
cal and surgical nursing and ad-
vanced training in surgery. Miss
Donaldson had completed three
months affiliation in psychiatric
nursing at DePaul Sanitarium,
New Orleahs, before coming to
visit here enroute to Dallas. She
Mrs. Amy Craddock spent the
week end with her daughters,Mrs.
James Grayson and family in
Houston, Mrs. Bill Cloud and
family at Galena Park and her
son, Dale Craddock at Galveston.
Mrs. Gus Swaim worked at The
News office during her absence.
Lee Roach, who suffered -a
stroke last fall and has been a pa-
tient at a convalescent home in
Paris several months, has shown
some improvement.

Sidney Hudson left Tuesday for
Hot Springs, Ark., where he will
take treatment. He was accom-
panied there by Mr. and Mrs. Gus
Swaim, who returned home Tues-
day.

Mrs. Dorothy Cope sends a
change of address from Dallas, to
Garland, whpre she and her mo-
ther, Mrs. Kuykendall, have
bought a home. They are happy
to be where Mrs. Kuykendall has
already a small garden growing.
They are former residents of Bo-
gata.
Fifteen neighbor women met at
the home of Mrs. E. T. Jeffery
on Thursday for a covered dish
luncheon and quilting. Two
quilts were quilted and each
guest left with expressions of
having spent an enjoyable day.
