Watson, ranked 13th in her class, plans
to attend cither Southeastern Louisiana
University or McNeese State University.

in the record books. Il wasn't
the sequel to a Hollywood fan-
tasy, but it was a dream come
true for area youth who signed
up for the free baseball clinic at
Bridge City Booster/Alumni
Association's Baseball/Softball
Festival this past Saturday at
Bridge City High School.

pro scouts Chris Fackler of the
Pittsburgh Pirates and Joe
Canaizero of the Cleveland
Indians were some of the
celebrities expounding on their
areas of expertise for the benefit
of Orange County's up-and-
coming.
More than 300 boys and girls,
seven years old through the
eighth grade, participated in the
clinics 1-4:30 in the afternoon,
rotating from station to station
where celebrity speakers gave
them concentrated lessons in
pitching, catching, batting,
fielding, running, sliding and
generally playing softball and
baseball.
Addressing the hoys' baseball
clinic. Ben Weber said the key
to good pitching is "grip and
delivery." The 1988 Poit
Neches-Groves High School
grad played college ball at the
University of Houston. First
drafted by the Toronto Bluejays
Weber went on lo play three
years in the major leagues ... in
Taiwan.
