ical Society in Baton Rouge, La.,

They are Dr. Oscar Weigang
and Professor Dwight Garrison,
both of whom teach chemistry at
TLC.
Dr. Weigang presented a papei-

The service will be repeated a
third time this year at Randolph
Air Force Base on December 16.
The combined choirs of Texas
Lutheran College will present the
annual Christmas Vespers at 5 p.
m. and at 7:30 p. m. in the Chapel
this Sunday.
The theme remains the same
each year: “Joy to the World the
Lord is Come!” but the presenta-
tion varies each year.
The service this year will be by-
candle light. The 120 choir mem-
bers will sing popular favorites
such as “O Little Town of Beth-
lehem” and “Away in a Manger,”
plus other special Christmas mu-
sic.
The old steam pipe lines into
West Side and Emma Frey dormi-
tories have been excavated and
replaced by the maintenance de- j
partment and a local plumbing
firm during the past two weeks.
Because of the poor condition
of the old pipes, a complete new
piping system was laid, including|
an incoming steam line, and a re- i
turn line which carries the con-
i densed water.

MUSIC GROUPS PLAN CHRISTMAS VESPERS FOR SUNDAY
Walter Kneten of the Public Re-
lations Office recently returned
from a trip to Florida, where he
made bookings for the 1960 Tex-
as Lutheran College Concert Band
Tour.
The tour will include concerts
in several vacation spots in the
St. Petersburg-Tampa area as
well as concerts in New Orleans
and othei Gulf Coast points. Also wjp £W0 of rea(jers

East Texas.
Kneten gave the band a pre-
view of their tour by showing -va-
cation brochures of- the areas
where they will travel.
The members of the touring
band will be selected after the
Christmas holidays, according to
band director Morine Nyquist. A
48 to 52 piece band will make the
tour this year.
The group will leave on the
afternoon of January 26 and re-
turn to the campus February 7.
The repertoire of the band will
include symphonic works, concert
1 overtures, light operatic selec-

For Holiday Party
The student body will have an
all-school caroling party next
Thursday as was held last year.
A Christmas party given by
Slater Food Service will follow
the caroling. .
Members of the Social Activi-
ties Committee, which sponsors
the caroling, will begin singing
at one of the dorms. The residents
of that dorm will then join the
carolers and proceed to another
dorm, where the same action will
be repeated. Candles will be pro-
vided to light the way from dorm
to dorm.
The caroling will be followed
by a short service in the Chapel.
After this the party will be held
in the Commons.
The names of boys and girls will
be put into separate boxes for
drawing for prizes. An electric
razor will be awarded to the boy
whose name is drawn and a botth?
of Chanel No. 5 perfume will go
to the girl whose name is drawn.
Christmas cookies, brownies.
Christmas candy, fruit, nuts, hot
chocolate, and hot Russian ten
will be served as refreshments.
The singing of Christmas songs
will continue at the party.
