The Deadwood Mines at Mo-
gollon Again in Active
Operation.
Magollon X. M April . At the
Ernestine Mining: company bullion pro-
duced for the last 10 days of March
was 8850 Trey ounces; concentrates
for the period. IS 000 pounds. The to-
tal output for the month was 2Z.649
ounces bullion and It 1-tf tons con-
centrates from an ore treatment of
3200 tons. The tonnage last week
was 660. All developments in this
mine are showing up well the 300
level west being in especially rich ore.
The Deadwood mines plant is in full
operation again the repairs for the
engine having been installed and tried
out last week. During the absence of
power considerable water accumulat-
ed in the lower levels of the mine
which is now being: unwatered the
upper workings furnishing the mill
with ore in the meantime. A fair ton-
nage of custom ore is handled in ad-
dition. At the Socorro mines the regular
daily production of 170 tons is being
maintained.
M the Treasure Mining & Reduction
company theree large teams aire de-
livering 60 tons per day to the mill
on Whitewater creek.
Current work on the patented John-
son mine property has disclosed high
average values in gold and silTer and
the extent of the ore body Is now be-
ing determined.
At the .Mogollon Gold & Copper com-
pany a new working lease has been
let on the 11 1 tie Charlie mine to Los
Angeles capitalists. It is probable the
other holdings of this company will
be handled by the same people.
At the Oaks company leasers on the
Pacific mine are taking out a good
tonnage of mill ore. largely from de-
velopment amounting to a total of
40 feet of work during the week.
At the Deep Down mine daily de-
livery of ore is now being made to
the Deadwood mill.

Mexican Revolution Affect-
ing United States Smelt-
ing and Mining.
Boston. Mass. April. 13 The revo-
lution in Mexico and efforts on the
part of California farmers to again
snat down the Mammoth cooper smel-
ter are two factors which can hardly
be considered favorable to the future
operations of the United States Smelt-
ing & Mining company. As against
this however the company is now
showing earnings of nearly $8 per
New financing of $10000000 of notes
will not long he a charge against pres-
ent earnings for coal properties in
Utah can almost from the start earn
sufficient to meet interest require-
ments to say nothing of new benefits
to be derived from operations of the
Gold Roads property and Needles prop-

MINING NEWS
More Are Now Employed
Than at Any Previous
Time.
Bisbee Arts.. April 13. There are
more miners employed in tbe mines
of the Warren district today than ever
before in the history of the camp. This
statement was made by an official of
one of the large copper companies yes-
terday. It was further stated that the
cumber employed Is 300 more than It
was three months ago.
It is not true however that the pay
roll of the companies is larger than
ever before as la other days the
mines operated seven days in the week
and in the days of 36-cent copper paid
more than the present scale.
The Shattuck Is Increasing its force
at the mine. Twenty men were added
to the pay roll within the week and a
night shift put to work at the mine.
Orders have been issued by president
Thomas Bafdon. of the Shuttuck. to
secure a smelter site at once and to
push all work as fast as possible. It
is believed that the mine will soon
resume production in full blast.
At the annual meeting of the stock-
holders of the Calumet & Arizona the
old board of directors was re-eleoted.
The business of the meeting was
tiansacted by proxy the only out-of-
.town members present being vice pres
ident Thomas Hoatson and Gordon R.
Campbell secretary both of Calumet

En route from the Ormos mine of
the Calimex Mineral and Land com-
pany located near Cumpbs J. A. Me-
Gljnsey. general manager accompanied
by "W. H. Barrett .passed through
Douglas yesterday. The two will go
to San Francisco where they are to
spend several months on a vacation.
The property will not be idle during
their absence howerer Mr. McGlmsey
stated. F. O. Colson has assumed
charge during the absence of Mr. Mc-
Glmsey and will push development.
The chief work now being prosecut-
ed is drifting on the 200 level in a
tunnel. Fifteen men are employed In
this work and rapid progress is being
made. High grade silver ore encoun-
tered in the upper tunnel is expected
to be struck in the lower one with a
few feet more of work. "When this
has been accomplished the force will
be set at work blocking oat the ore
body and preparing for shipment.
POWDER SHORTAGE
' CHIEF DIFFICULTY
- that the United States bag raised tne
1 1 embargo on explosives coming into
Mexico this handicap will be removed
he thinks.
Mr. Schroeter. in commenting upon
the different properties states that at
tbe Dolores the past year-s develop-
ment has proved more extensive ore
bodies than in the early history of the
mine and that the amount of ore in
sight at this property with the fu-
ture possibilities is sufficient to jus-
tify an Increased milling capacity.
At the El Rayo the mine never
looked better in its history both as
regards the amount of ore blocked out
and the possibilities for developing
more ore. During last year as much
ore was developed as was mined and
milled he said.
Prospects at the La Dura are ex-
ceedingly good for extending the ore
lines both north and south as well as
in depth. The property is making a
satisfactory profit over the expendi-
tures and this will be gradually in-
creased. The future prospects of the
mine are exceedingly bright.
The capital of the Mines company
of America has been increased from
S2.000.000. consisting of 2000000 shares
at par value of 31 each to $9000000
consisting of 9000000 shares at par
value of tie.
