MRS. FRED DEDEAR
Cuero—Mrs. Fred (Lydia
Clara) Dedear, 68 years, 5
months and 20 days, died at
her home in Cuero Tuesday
night, November 8, 1966. She
was the wife of former DeWitt
County Commissioner Fred De-
dear.
Services for Mrs. Dedear were
conducted Thursday, November
10 with an 8:45 a.m. prayer at
the Freund Funeral Home
Chapel and Mass at 9 a.m. at
St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
The Rev. John Flynn, officiated.
Burial was in Mission Valley
Cemetery.
Rosary was said at 8 p. m.
Wednesday at Freund Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Dedear was born May
18, 1898, daughter of Jesse and
Nancy Anne Elizabeth (Dufner)
Lee, at Sweet Home. She was
married to Fred Dedear in
Cuero Oct. 30, 1915.
She is survived by her hus-
band; five sons, Ralph Dedear,
Cuero; Buddy and Donald De-
dear, Victoria, Jerry Dedear,
Hardin, Neal Dedear, Aransas
Pass, five daughters, Mrs. Hen-
ry Fuller, Mrs. Vernon Hess,
Mrs. Delano Rangnau, Cuero;
Mrs. Louis Gavlik, Port Lavaca;.
Mrs. Emil Zielonka, Yorktown;
four sisters, Mrs. Alphonse
Scheffler and Mrs. Lottie Kohu-
tek both of Cuero; Mrs. Millie
Ford, Beeville, and Mrs. Earl
Hermes, Victoria; and three
brothers, Jack Lee, Cuero; John
Lee, Yoakum, and Wash Lee, La
Ward.

Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schmidt
of Shiner observed their Golden
Wedding Anniversary Sunday,
November 6, 1966 by first at-
tending church services and
communion service at United
Dr. Martin Luther Church Sun-
day morning and with an Open
House from 2 till 5 p.m. at the
Shiner Hermann Sons Hall.
In the receiving line were Mr.
and Mrs. Schmdit, Mrs. Erna
Wegener of New Braunfels, a
sister of Mr. Schmidt, and Mrs.
Meta Boethel, resident of Trin-
ity Lutheran Home, a sister of
Mrs. Schmidt.
For the occasion, Mrs.
Schmidt wore a gold carnation
corsage and Mr. Schmidt a gold
carnation boutonniere.
The registry table was laid
with a white taffeta cloth with
a full tulle skirted overlay.
Clusters of gold leaves were
scattered on the skirt. An ar-
rangement of white gladioli and
mums and the Golden Anniver-
sary Register were on this table.
Miss Rosa Lynn McKay presid-
ed at the register.
The two refreshment tables
were each laid with a white taf-
feta cloth skirted with tulle en-
hanced with clusters of gold
leaves. Each table held an ar-
rangement of white gladioli and
mums in golden containers.
One of the tables held the an-
niversary cake, which was a
three tiered white iced colon-
nade confection trimmed with
yellow roses, gold leaves and
love birds and topped with a
golden bell accented with the
gold numerals “50”. Mrs. J. T.
Ward of Houston and Mrs.
Walter Rompel of New Braun-
fels, assisted by Mrs. Edgar
Arndt of Cuero, served the cake.
Cheese and chicken salad
sandwiches were served by Mrs.
Louis Boethel of Weimar and
Mrs. Meta Brogger of Victoria,
assisted by Mrs. Victor Bender
and Mrs. Wilbert Bender of
Shiner. The punch was served
by Mrs. Wiley Wright of Hous-
ton, assisted by Mrs. Wilma
Goetz of Shiner.
The other table held a Ger-
man chocolate cake, which was
served by Mrs. Oscar Boethel of
Hallettsville, assisted by Mrs.
Clinton Brandt of New Braun-
fels and Mrs. Alfred Boethel of
of Moulton.
Coffee was served by Mrs. W.
R. Jones of Hallettsville, assist-
ed by Mrs. Homer Sommerlatte,
Mrs. Walter Bender, both of
Shiner and Mrs. Leslie Arndt of
Cuero.
Mrs. Merle Highlands and
Mrs. Kenneth Ward of Houston
opened, recorded and displayed
the gifts on a white clad table
centered with an arrangement
of yellow asters.
Other members of the house
party were: Mrs. Guy McKay
and Mrs. Walter Hagendorf of
Shiner; Mrs. Edgar Lincke and
Wanda Sue Lincke of Westhoff;
Nancy and Rita Arndt of Cuero;
Dena Broussard and Kendra
Ward of Houston.
The piano held a lovely ar-
rangement of yellow asters
highlighted with Mr. and Mrs.
Schmidt’s original wedding pic-
ture on one side and their silver
wedding picture on the other
side.
