CAB DRIVER IS .
ROBBED BY FARES
To be held up by two prospective
fares and later robbed by them was the
experience of L. B. Ragin Friday mornj
ing at 2:30 oclock. Ragin. who drives
a cab for the Longwell Transfer com-
pany was driving down Boulevard. At
the Intersection of that street with
Ange. he was hailed by two well
dressed men who asked to bo taken
to the Union station. Ragin dismounted
from his seat to open the door when
one of the men poked him in the ribs
with a pistol. His companion slapped
the pockets of Ragin's trousers and.
hearing the sound of money in one
extracted $1.50. The man with the pis-
tol Ragin says continued to poke him
in the ribs asking all the while If he
was frightened. Both men he stated
seemed to take the matter as a Joke.
After robbing him the victim says
the men mounted the seat of the cab
with him and demanded to be taken to
the corner of Missouri and Ange
streets where they dismounted and
walked toward the Southwestern shops.

FILIBUSTER MOVE
United States Officers "Want
to Concentrate All the
Eefugees Here.
Fear has been expressed among the
Mormon refugees here that some of the
Mormon young men may join the fili-
bustering expedition which is being or-
ganized at Douglas to go Into Sonora.
Angered at the outrages of the rebels
the young Mormon men may join the
proposed Invading force to drive the
rebels away from the colonies in So-
nora.
El Paso may be made a general
headquarters for the refugees from
both tho Sonora and Chihuahua col-
onies. The Sonora Mormons are now in
camp at Hachlta and Douglas but it
is the desire of the army officers who
are handling the transportation and
commissary allowances for the Mor-
mons to have as many of the refugees
as possible come to El Paso where they
can be better cared for and can be more
comlortably located man in nacima ur
Douglas.
Sonora Colonists Object.
Some objection has arisen to this
plan as the Mormon men from Sonora
say that they prefer to remain near
their colonies. In order to go back as
the Sonora colonies have also brought
quantities of provisions and even milk
cows with them from their homes and
desire to remain near the border where
they may utilize these supplies.

The meeting with Gen. Huerta in
Juarez which was planned for Thurs-
day by president Romney and bishop

meeting between Gen. E. Z. Steever and
Gen. Huerta in Juarez. Another en-
gagement was arranged for the Mor-

ON AMERICAN DIPLOMATS
Havana Cuba Sept 6. Secretary of
state Sanguilty conferred with the
editors of most of the Havana papers
and communicated to them the memor-
andum of the Uruguayan minister
senor Fosalba dean of the diplomatic
corps.
The foreign diplomats dseired to
know what action the Cuban govern-
ment intends to take against papers
insulting the American republic. These
insults the diplomatic corps considered
an infringement on their diplomatic
Immunity.
The editors responded In effect that
they had not Intended any offense
against the American representative
and gave assurance of their earnest de-
sire to support the Cuban government
and not give any cause for further
complaint
All attacks by the papers have now
ceased. Apparently the question of the
prosecution of the offenders now de-
perds on the action of the government
at Washington.
