The chemical and fiber company Is
to be reorganized and the fiber plant
on the Country club road which was
erected in 1907 will be reopened and
operated by the reorganized company.
A meeting of the stockholders of the
El Paso Chemical and Fiber company
will "be held Saturday afternoon at
the office of A. Courchesne to arrange
for the reorganization of the company
and the increase of the capital stock
from ?50000 to SS5.000.
Dr. F. Thatcher superintendent and
chemist of the company has received
a letter from "W. F. Cody (Buffalo Bill)
saying that he would subscribe for a
block of stock in the reorganized com-
pany and assist in the financing of
the fiber company. A majority of the
local creditors of the company have

new company in payment of their ac
counts and it is expected that the
fiber plant will be ready for operation
by fall.

J. Murphy son of the noted temperance
worker Francis J. Murphy and him-
self a temperance lecturer of inter-
national renown died here at the age
of 57.

J Will Answer to the Charge of Killing
J. Ji. Jtelter Formerly of Las
Ctuccb Avery to Be Kcturncd.

California state extradition agent
Louis A. Geek charged with the murder
of J. H. Felter in Los Angeles on Oc-
tober 1 1910 left El Paso Friday morn
ing en route to that city where he will
be placed on trial.
Geek was arrested in El Paso by
members of the sheriffs department
several weeks ago on advice of the Cal-
ifornia authorities. He was charged
by complaint filed In justice James J.
Murphy's court with being a fugitive
from Justice. Following a trial on that
charge he was remanded to jail with-
out bail. The writ for requisition in his
case was granted by governor Colquitt
on August 3.
J. H. Felter whom Geek is alleged
to have killed formerly lived in Las
Cruces from which place he came to
El Paso and for a number of years
was engaged In the grocery business.
Felter left El Paso for Los Angeles and
there opened up a grocery store. He
was killed on the same day that the
Times building in that city was blown
up.
Avery Held For CalUornla Officers.
Following the granting by governor
Colquitt of a requisition issued by gov-
ernor Johnson of California for the
extradition of Jack Avery said to be
wanted at Stockton. Calif. to answer a
charge of passing fictitious checks W.
J. Hersom. an officer of that place. Is
expected to arrive in El Paso Friday
night for his prisoner. Avery was ar-
rested here about three months ago
after he appeared before Lew Gasser
at the city pumping plant an an-
nounced himself as being the "Queen
of Sheba" looking for king Solomon.
At the time Avery was clad partly in
feminine wearing appare . He was held
by Gasser until sheriff Peyton J. Ed-
wards and ranger Baker arrived.

Nine Injured By Runaway.
St. Paul Minn. Sept 6. Nine per-
sons were seriously injured orie of
them fatally by a runaway horse on
the fairgrounds here.

Militia Ordered To Mines.
Charleston W. Va. Sept. 6. Every
company of the state militia has been
ordered back to the Kanawha coal
field where governor Glasscock declared
martial law. Conditions there are said
to be critical.

Eleven Prostrute'd By Heat.
Chicago Hi. Sept 6. Chicago's hot
wave raised the mercury to 94 degrees
within one degree of this year's
record. It was about the hottest Sep-
tember day in 15 years according to the
records of the United States weather
bureau. Three deaths due to heat and
11 prostrations were reported.

Fight Birds With Fireworks.
Topeka Kan Sept 6. With a ton of
fireworks this city last night began a
battle against thousands of black birds
that have infested the great elms and
made the streets here dangerous and
unsightly. As the flying balls of fire
swept through the trees birds screamed
at their disturbers. A few took wing
and flew to nearby trees but most of
them held their roosts and chattered
noisily. Finally the firing squad gave
up the effort.

Sheriff Returns From Vacation.
Sheriff Peyton J. Edwards and fam-
ily returned to El Paso Friday morn-
ing after having spent several weeks
at Galveston Texas where the bathing
in the surf. It was stated constituted
the chief enjoyment The sheriff said
that there was no place like El Paso
and he was glad to get back.

Booth the new head of the Salvation
Army has issued an appeal for $750-
000 with which to erect equip and
maintain a new training college for
Salvation Army officers as a memorial
to his father.
In discussinsr the project Bramwell
Booth said that provision for the better
training of officers had much occu-
pied his father's mind of late years
but he hesitated to bring out the plan
because of the large sum required.

Denver Colo Sept. 6. After being
divorced recently in Wichita Kan. and
coming here a few weeks ago to start
life anew Mrs. Ivory O. Heather 25
years old committed suicide at her
home by shooting herself through the
brain. The woman shot herself after a
protracted quarrel with her husband.

KANSAS CITY URGES WOMEY
TO ATTEND NIGHT SCHOOLS
Kansas City Mo Sept 6. The high
cost of living is the greatest problem
today and its solution lies with the
wives and mothers of the nation is the
opinion cf the board of education of
Kansas City. Kan which offers spe-
cial inducements to mothers to attend

Deeds to Interurbnn.
A meeting of the Interurban commit-
tee will be held Monday to arrange for
the final delivery of the deeds to the

Inspector Harris Returns.
George J. Harris who will be chief
of the Chinese division at the local
United States immigration station .ar-
rived in El Paso Thursday. He comes
to El Paso from Vancouver B. C and
assumes the place vacated by Joseph
H. Wallis transferred to a similar po-
sition at Key West Fla. Mr. Harris
was formerly Inspector In charge of El
Paso.
