Mr. Henry, who was an offloai of
the deck, had just come on duly
when a periscope was sighted

of England for his heroic act, along

nised his heroism with a disting-
uished service medal. In all. he

Mexico.
"Following his retirement and
until aftc years ago, Mr. Henry had
spent some time In both land and
aea service He sustained several
injuries while cruising in the North
, Sea. both legs having been broken
' and a severe head injury received
in the heavy seas later resulted in
permanent injury to his left eye
"He was appointed to Annapolis
from Texas and graduated in 1913
as an honor man He was a native
of Knoxville As a youngster, he
removed with his famfly to Mur-
freesboro and Uitfnoe to Cleburne
Texas, when he was six years of
age.
"He was the son of-Mrs. Caroline
Owen Henry and the late Charles
w. Henry, and was a member of
the Methodist Church. Survivors
beside hl* mother are hi* wife and
son, Walter Owen Henry. Jr."
