MRS. HENRY M. WIESER
PACE - SETTERS
OF PROGRESS
We salute all Pioneers on this Centennial occasion and join
in wishing Hamilton County 100 more years of progress.
Vincent Wieser, founder of the Wieser industrial interest in Texas,
was typical of an epoch in the development of this area. That qual-
ity of American spirit and its application were qualities which cha-
racterized that generation of men who created and developed
Central Texas. His sons and grandsons have carried on in
these traditions and policies. Namely: confidence in free
enterprise and in man's reliance on his own abilities.
The family's milling operations were greatly expanded when flour mills
and grain elevators were founded at Hico, Hamilton, Dublin and at
Stamford. This family of industrial pioneers organized the Central.
Power and Light Company to serve Iredell, Clairette and Dub-
lin. They also owned the Hamilton Power & Light Company
until recent years. The first telephone company in Hamil-
ton was built by the Wiesers. Mrs. H. M. Wieser, the wife
of the late H. M. Wieser, built the Wieser Mill in Lam-
pasas in 1954. Her son, Sidney M. Wieser, is mana-
ger of that mill.
The late Vincent Wieser, father of Joe F. Wieser, Henry M. Wieser and
Frank A. Wieser and grandfather of Sidney M. Wieser, was the found-
er of the family's milling operations. He came to Texas from Inde-
pendence, Iowa in 1891 and started his first roller mill at Hico, with
his sons as partners.
