In 1976 Solar Engineering magazine was one of the first publications in the field dedicated to providing technical information for installers, manufacturers and designers. It covered a wide variety of new solar installations for residences and commercial buildings including photovoltaics, wind energy, thermal energy, and large-scale installations. The publication led the interest in developing standard specifications and published a catalogue of solar systems, parts and professional services. The publication was published from 1976 until 1981 in Dallas, Texas. After that date it was sold to other interests.
