Many of the automobile com-
panies. and particularly Chrys-
ler. have been experimenting
with the turbine for passenger
car use. and seem to lie pleased
with the engine. They have had
some problems with the exhaust
heat The turbine, which bums
almost anything from gasoline
to lighter fluid spits out a trem-
endous heat wave from the ex-
haust
However, we're thinking that
this might take care of the nut
who likes to "lad-gate" on the
highway. As one local man
says, "you could boil the wal-
er in his radiator.”
Jones apparently had prob-
lems with trolling the other guy's
radiator too officials at the In-
dy 500 made him put deflectors
on the exhaust But it made lit-
tle difference, since Jones took
the lead on the second lap and
apparently was leaving all com-
petors far behind when the
race was called.
If Jones wins, and there's a
good chance that he will, it may
t>oost the stock of the turbine
and encourage auto makers to
go ahead with the commercial
variety. Ur-'d be interested in
seeing some of these on the road
