WASHINGTON— </P» —The army
disclosed that the cavalry was test-
ing a new model midget scout car
as a possible substitute for motor-
cycles.
The 1.350-pound vehicles. 3.000 of
which have been ordered, originally
were developed for the infantry.
Each c/rries three riflemen and
their weapons, and can be used
also to transport machine guns and
ammunition.
The modernized cavalry includes
numerous motorcycle units for
scouting and communication. A new
type motor-tricycle to carry three
men also has been designed but
not yet acquired by the first cav-
alry division at Fort Bliss. Tex.,
or other units. The War Depart-
ment said the new midget car
“seems” to have the answer” to
some of the deficiencies of the mo-
torcycle. being “relatively quiet,"

DALLAS—CPi— Stringent legisla-
tion to curb “scalping” of tickets
to football, baseball and other
sporting events will be introduced
in the 47th Texas legislature in
January. State Representative-elect
Sam C. Hanna said Saturday.
There is no Texas law prohibit-
ing scalping of tickets, although
the federal government exercises
some jurisdiction because each
ticket bears a federal amusement
tax. Hanna said.
He said that instances where
scalpers are demanding $15 each
for $3.30 tickets to the Cotton Bowl
classic between Texas A. & M. and
Fordham had been brought to his
attention.
Blocks of tickets to the Jan. 1
Cotton Bowl were sold only to
recognized corporations or com-
panies that wished to give them
to employers or customers, and re-
ouests for large numbers of tickets,
if made by some person unknown
tr» officials, were turned down, Cot-
ton Bowl officials said.

BERLIN — British pilots struck
twice overnight at Berlin in “a ma-
jor raid,” the Nazi high command
announced Saturday, flying over
the center of the city and loosing
both explosive and fire bombs.
Six persons were killed and 17 in-
jured. a communique reported, and
the Dom * Protestant! Cathedral
was hit and damaged—to the ex-
tent of 1.500.000 marks (about $600.-
000>, said the Reicn church minis-
try
Fires were set off in the suburbs
in the first appearance of the Brit-
ish. said the high command, but on
that occasion the raiders were held
back by anti-aircraft fire.
They returned, however—"sev-
eral" of them, it was stated—and
moved over the heart of the metrop-
olis. Their bombs were declared to
have fallen "particularly” in the
eastern part of the city, but with
“no military or vital war damage.”
The high command accused the
raiders of having directed their at-
tack "exclusively . . . against non-
military targets.”
Reports from the historic town of
Potsdam, west of the capital, said
three civilians were killed there
by a single British plane which
dropped explosives and incen-
diaries.
