GOOD ROAD MEETING.
IB<^' —
I Washinss Along the Wasfaiagtew Rw
Which Needs Attention—Will get ft.
A meeting of several citizens was
fheld yesterday evening in Norwood’s
warehouse to discuss* the condition of
[ the road from Navasota to the Brazos
i river bride. Commissioner Fred Behn
appeared before the meeting and stated
that he had that afternoon viewed the
' great gully on this side of the Navasota
river bridge and ,that he was going im-
mediately to have a plank, rock and
dirt curbing put in; and several lines of
rpck laid across the bottom of the
chasm—that it might exert’its own in-
fluence id fill up , In this he had the
consent of Judge Teague. Ae also stat-
ed that he had seen Mr. JHorst, who was
I overseer of that road, and that the gen-
tleman was going to proceed immedi-
; ately to fixing several lobiolies along the
thoroughfare; He had also made a ’ □
contract with Mr. Horlock for a strip ^1
thirty feet wide and 200 Jeet long lying
north of the road, which wquld be J
turned out and the road greatly widened. ^1
| ' Then the meeting heard the report of
Treasurer Bissell on the amounts sub-
scribed, collected and used on lhepub-
| lie donation raised last year to keep in
L Rasing fix the highway between the
Navasota and Brazos river bridges;
after which the list was turned over to
Secretary Andrews for winding up.
The meeting then adjourned subject
to call. ___________2______
