Rev. Peck. Williams accepts a call
to pastor the Baptist Church at Pros-
perity. The many friends of Bro. Wil-,

The Youth Revival at the First
Methodist Church conducted by Mar-
vin and Clyde Braswell closed Sunday
night. The services were well attend-
ed, and a great deal of .interest taken.
Mrs. Sara Addington, who has been
in Tellahoma, Tennessee, for some
time, is visting relatives here.
Miss Oma Pound is reported much
improved after several days’ illness.

Bud Fortner is seriously ill in St.
Vincent’s Hospital, Sherman.
Mrs. Ethel Davis visited her daugh-
ter of Dallas over the weekend.
Mrs. Catherine Press writes that
that she is having a grand time. She
resigned her position as teacher to
join her husband, Leon Press, who is
managing a group of schools in Ger-
many. He is to get a three-months’
vacation soon. He and Mrs. Press
will tour Germany and neighoring
countries.

The Robert M. Pass Co. nas stopped
drilling on the John Wester No. 1
test oil well near Weston and are mov-
ing their equipment’ This ds the first
TegU=6il‘well ever-drilled near Collin
County’s oldest town. The crew stop-
ped drilling at a depth 6f 8,000 feet,
were so thoughtful, sympathetic and No oi Iwas found.
- - • ..... • - The Bass Co., making the test for
the Humble Oil and Refinng Co., be-
gan drilling on the test well Dec. 26,
1946, and have operated continuously
since that time. The hole has been
covered with concrete and the derrick
taken down, the company moving it
to Ranger to begin work on another
test well.
The test was made on the John Wes-
ter farm, about two miles south of
Weston.
This editor believes there s plenty
of oil in Gollin County. But we got
our A. B. ,S. degree many years ago.

tess for a belatel bridal and pink
and blue shower Thursday afternoon
at the home of Mrs. Sally Wagner,

The honoree is a native of Nebras-
ka and was married to her husband
while he was stationed there with the
Army. They are now at home on a

Our community vms saddened by
the tragic death of Mrs. Arthur Todd
last Friday. Everyone joins in deep
sympathy with thq. family. Mrs. Todd
was reared and lived most of her life
in the Sunbeam community, now a
part of the* Alla school district.
Mr. and Mrs. Etheridge Phillips and
children of Dumas, Mr. and Mrs. Has-
kell Walling and daughters of Bren-
ham »visited their father, Mack Phil-
lips, and Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Phillips,
last week.
Mrs. H. H. Tillerson is on the sick
list. A daughter, Mrs. Carlisle Wil-
son, and daughter Carolyn, of Perry-
ton, are here for a few days’ stay.
Mr. and Mrs. Carlisle Forbes of Dal-
las were up over the week end. Mrs.
Olan Tillerson and children of Celina
spent last week in the Tillerson home.
Mrs. Thelma Rutherford visited her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Lair, over
