COMPENSATION SUIT
FILED IN ACTION
J. B. Martin, oil field worker,
filed suit Monday in Fourth Judi-
cial District Court against Texas
Employers’ Insurance Association
for $8020 in compensation.
In the petition Martin claims
that he is permanently disabled
after his left hand was crushed.
Martin was "roughnecking’.’ for
F. H. Brown, drilling contractor,
on April 6, 1035 on a rig fourteen
miles northwest of Henderson, the
petition asserts, and was running
casing Into the well when the ac-
cident* bceured. While he was
tightening a steel wire cable ex-
tending from the upper end of the
pipe to the "traveling block" the
casing suddenly dropped down-
ward catching his left arm and
rotating and twisting it around the
cable.
Martin has already been paid
compensation at $20 per week for
73 weeks.

June Lang, screen actress, was
interested today in a valuable col-
lection of 400 watches owned by
her uncle, Joseph Vlasek, 60,
who died last May 5 without leav-
ing a will. Vfcisek spent most of
his life accumulating the fine
collection of watches that reflect
’ the development of the watch-
making industry from 1700 to
1885. He had been negotiating
for disposal of the watches to
Henry Ford for a museum in
Dearborn, Mich. Miss Lang is
conferring with county officials
on disposition of the estate. Vlasek
had a brother living in Minneap-
olis and Relatives in Bohemia.
White Dove, known on stage
and screen as Corleen Cummings,
pleaded not guilty to a theft
charge yesterday ■ and had her
preliminary hearing set for Jan.

of stealing clothes from a store.

PARIS (UP)—A whole page of
fashion hints to blondes is offered
in the current publication of Jar-
dins des Modes, popular French
fashion magazine.
The most important step, ac-
cording to this magazine, is the
choice of soft, becoming colors.
Soft greys, blues, beige, greyish-
green and black are the most
flattering shades for a blonde
who must avoid brilliant colors
so as not to look faded.
This magazine suggests
sports outfit of greyish green to
be made up Into a straight skirt
of solid green wool and a fitted,
tailored jacket of green and
black plaid wool. This costume
Is worn with a polo coat of grey-
ish beige that is fitted and
trimmed with four large patch
pockets.
For street wear, a shade of
slate blue wool is chosen to make
a tailored one-piece dress that is
worn with a three-quarter
length coat of the same slate
blue trimmed with a stock scarf
of beaver fur while large patch

HOLLYWOOD, Dec. 15 (UP)
—Hollywood voiced a vote of
thanks today to former King Ed-
ward VIII, who abdication from
the throne made more plausible
even the most fantastic of screen
love stories.
Producers, writers, stars and
directors all said the scope of
screen material had been widened
greatly because of |he unbeliev-
able turn of events at Bucking-
ham Palace.
Grover Jones, producer-writer
for Paramount, summed it up
neatly in his reaction to the love
affair of David Windsor and
Wally Simpson.
"From now on for a long
time, that which is startling in
love stories will not necessarily
be disturbing,” Jones said. ‘‘Un-
usual situations will be more read-
ily accepted as authentic by all
audiences.
"The headlines have been do-
ing a very effective job of
smashing any skepticism since King
Edward first started appearing
with his girl friend. A year ago
even the most extravagant pro-
ducer in Hollywood would have
acknowledged the possibility of
such a romance in real life. Per-
haps in some vague principality
hidden away down in the Balk-
ans, yes; but around the throne
of Great Britain! Not the re-
motest possibility.
‘‘From now on, in view of this
most recent romance, we’re go-
ing to feel free to let fancy soar,
because we can go pretty high
before we overshoot the bars of
plausibility set by King Ed-
ward’s romance.”
