What Will They Do
for the Poor?
And here these characters think
they won the election ’’all” by
’'themselves”, when it is really some
of the poor that "paved” the way for
them.
Well, lets hope these1 clowns don't
make the same mistake that the GGL
made with the poor--underestimate
them. For the poor are poor—not
ignorant.
Who knows if these new city council
characters will refuse to listen to
the needs of the poor and their chil-
dren. The barrio poor may "dream”
something up for the next time they
run again. For as it was stated be-
fore, the poor may be poor. They may
not have any money. But they certainly
are daring and they sure get alot of
good "brain storms”. Who knows what
they will dream up next?

of the poverty agencies under the
city that helped him and are "not”
doing the work for the poor that they
are supposed to be doing? Or is he
going to cover up for them, just
like the GGL did for the ones that
were helping them?
And what about rewards? Is
Charles Becker going to reward those
so called poverty warriors that
helped him? Is he going to reward
those that were helping him by going
around offering money to a certain
"poor" candidate, who was running
against him, so this candidate would
drop out of the race?
And what about those two so
called poverty workers, working on
his campaign with the initials DC
and CA, who tried to get a certain
candidate in a blackmailing posi-
tion, in a room at the Gunter Hotel?
Is he going to reward them too? Is
he going to cover up for all these
people? We’ll see.
On his "Thank You” San Antonio
Advertizement, of April 22. He,
Leo Mendoza, Alvino Padilla, and
Glen Lacy promised to be responsive,
show sincere interest, be indepen-
dent, honest and sincere for the
next two years.
In a "few weeks” they will have
the opportunity of practicing what
they preach, -- and if they are not
all thse things they promised to be,
we will let you good readers know
about it.
And just so that these four cha-
racters won’t think that they do owe
the poor anything, yours truly would
like to inform them that it was a
group of fifty "poor” people, care-
Guess pouts after loss.
fully selected, who blocked the GGL,
on the last night of registering far
the City Council elections. Remember
how all the GGL slate was trying to
switch places at the last minute?
Well, it was the fifty poor people
who "kept” them from accomplishing
that wish. And the result of that
little "task" was Alvino Padilla
ending up with no opposition. That
is also why Luz Escamilla, a GGL
"apple polisher" was not able to re-
gister at the last moment to run
against an independent.
And do you remember those Vietnam
resolutions. The ones that caused all
of San Antonio to go into panic and
against the GGL? Remember how San An-
tonio was ready to eat the GGL alive,
because they wanted to go and rebuilt
that hospital in Vietnam? One of the
individuals making one of the two
resolutions was a poor person by the
initials of RR.

When Albert Pena lost to Commis-
sioner Albert Bustamante, they went
around trying to politically romance
Bustamante. When Bustamante wouldn’t
have anything to do with them. They
went back to Albert Pena and the GGL.
Which just goes to show that these
characters aren't true to anyone.
They are out for what they can get
for themselves. Like ladies of the
night, they sell themselves to any-
one.
Not that Bustamante doesn* t have
any "undesirable" characters buzzing
He does, but he hasn't
He thinks they are
But with some of the
friends he has, he certainly doesn’t
need enemies.
And what about this Charles Bec-
ker? Now that he is in, as mayor,
what is he going to do for the poor?
Will we have to constantly remind
him of the poor or will he take it
upon himself to find out their needs?
Should we sent him, Leo Mendoza,
Glen Lacy and Alvino Padilla, a re-
port card every six weeks? So they
can see how they are doing where the
poor are concerned.
Alvino Padilla already has straight
"F's". Anyone that tries to influence
a poor person against running for
place 3, as he did, deserves F's.
And just so he could look good with
Charles Becker.
And, again, what about Charles
Becker? He keeps stating he will
close down 500 jobs that are not
needed. Will this also include some
