The Womens Missionary Union
of the First Baptist Church met
Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock in
the Church for a combined busi-
ness meeting and program.
Mrs. J. J. Speer opeued with
prayer. Reports weio given on the
previuus months work.
The program was presented by
the Jaxie Short Circle with Mrs.
J. M. Kunderburg in charge.
"(.) Come All Ye Faithful," open-
ed the program, sung by the mem-
bers present.
Mrs. Funderburg brought the
devotional on "A Never-Again
Land." Others on the program
were Mrs. C. E. Johnson who gave,
"Israel-S 0 e n e Jesus, Childhood
home a Newcon#r to an old city,
youths Church:" Mrs. Jerry Spier
w hose topic was, "Israel-Land of
Adventure." Mrs. Leroy Rushing,
"Jesus Walks in Lebanon;" Mrs.
Hilly Stewart, "They win with
friends;" and "Victories of some
who have chosen a more excellent
way." Mrs. J. H. Friday concluded
th ■ program with "Missions and
Women." Mrs. J. A. Gantt led ill
prayer.
The Jaxie Short Circle received
the attendance pin for having the
most members present.
Mrs. H. H. McBride dismissed
the group in prayer.

December 11, at 7 p. m. in the Sac-
red Heart Church. Father Ball-
win officiated.
The bride is the former Miss
Glenna Beasley, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. W. J. Arnold and Mr.
Pitts is the son uf Mrs. Lillian
Pitts of Abilene.
The bride was given in marriage
by her uncle. Bill Askew of Otney.
and her only attendant was an
aunt. Miss Tommie Askew. Dr.
Dun Pitts sen <1 as his brother's
l>est man. Ushers were Bryan
Swaim, Breckenridge and Grady
W-sr of Abilene.
The bride chose a street length
dress of white j rsey, fashioned
w tth a full skirt of soft pleats and
fitted bodice. Her hat was of navy-
blue velveteen matching her other
accessories. She carried a white or-
chid on a white Bible.
The maid of h<mor. Miss Askew
wore a dress of ice blue jersey,
identical to the bride's and carried
a bouquet 01" w hite baby mums.

A reception was held following
the ceremony in the home of Pr,
and Mrs. Don Pitts, 1S12 East

The bride is a graduate of the
Bi ck-niklge High School and has

uate of Ti Xas Tech College and a
member of the Block and Brid
Club there. He is with the Soil
Conservation here, coming here a
few weeks ago from Abilene.

Spi nt the week end with her dau-
ghter. Mrs. G. M. Sawyer. Mrs.
Lane and Mrs. Sawyer spent Sat-
urday with Mrs. Lane's daughter,
Mrs. Jones and family at Gorman
and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Hal-
lie Lain- at Carbon also.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Eiseiihuth and
daughter. Daphene Starr of Corpus
Christi spent the wvek end with
their mother and father, Mr. and
Mrs. O. R. Wallis, Mr. Eiseiihuth
and Daphene attended the football
game in Breckenridge Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Jay Herring and
Wynell visited Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Sunday. Mr. Henry has been ill
but is improving now.
The Harpersville Quilting Club
met at Mrs. Muellers last Thurs-
day to finish the quilt they started
sometime ago. Those present were:
Mesdames W. E. Adams. C. J.
High. J. A. Lauderdale, Willis Gen-
try, G. M. Sawyer, L. M. Lane, and
Mrs. Otts.
The next quilting will be with
Mrs. Otts on January 8th.
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Stewart Jr..
and girls of Abilene visited Mrs.
Stewart's sister Mrs. David John-
son. Also Mrs. Robert Scott and
children, Mrs. Teddie Wilson and
children of Breckenridge, visited
Mrs. Johnson, who has just return-
ed front the hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Roberts spent
Monday in Abilene.
Several were out hunting Christ-
mas trees Sunday afternoon. Mr.
