The Young Ladies’ Guild of the First
Baptist church met Saturday ofternoon
at 3.30 in the parlors of the •church.
Miss Amy King, president of the guild,
■was hostess on this occasion, and had
invited the members, in place of a dime
social, to a kitchen shower, for the ar-
ranging of the church kitchen. Quite a
number attended this pretty afternoon
affair. A dainty luncheon of hot choco-
late, cakes, bon bons and stuffed dates

"Does it ever occur to you how busy
that little stomach of • yours is? It
actually only holds three pints, though
in one year you force it to take in
2500 pounds of material, digest it and
prepare it for assimilation to the blood.
Do you wonder at the number of cases
of Indigestion and Stomach trouble?
You crowd it with steaks and pastry,
irritate its juices with spices and acids
and expect this little four-ounce mill
to do its work.
Is there any wonder that your food
passes undigested or lays like a lump
of lead in the stomacn? That every-
thing you eat . turns to acid, Stomach
gas and Stomach poison, putrefyir ■

causing Biliousness, Headaches, Dizzi-

THE DELINEATOR
DECEMBER..1908 '
Call your disease what you will—
Indigestion, Gastritis, Nervousness,
Dyspepsia, Catarrh of Stomach, etc.—
you know the real name, the real dis-
ease is fermentation of the food you
eat—a sour Stomach, which belches
gas (and erupts undigested food or
causes a feeling of . nausea and miser-
ableness.
All these miseries vanish promptly
when you stop this food fermentation.
Take fifty cents to your Pharmacist
for a case of Pape’s Dlapepsin. Eat
a triangule, and five minutes later your
Stomach will do what a healthy Stom-
ach should—that is, turn every bite
you eat into bodily nourishment and
without you realizing that you have (a
Stomach. One triangule will digest all
the food you eat without the aid of the
stomach, because it contains just the
elements, found in a good, strong,
healthy stomach.

It is estimated that several thousand
people, ladies, gentlemen, grownups and
children, rich and poor alike, paid the
Galveston a visit yesterday, and all re-
ceived the same courtesies at the hands
of Capt. Prendergast. His entire crew
of 60 men were on hand, and the vis-
itors were by these men in parties of
six and eight taken all over, the vessel
from the bridge to the fire room. They
were shown the heavy machinery, the
ponderous engines, and were told just
exactly how this and that piece worked,
and answered any and all kinds of ques-
tions that would suggest themselves to
the visitor.
The congratulations extended to the
captain and his officers were unanimous
and were gracefully acknowledged, and
if the new boat will come up to the
wishes expressed for it by Capt. Pren-
dergast’s guests it will certainly do alL
that the designers and builders could
possibly hope for it.
This week the dredge will be prepared
for the great work for which it was
built, and it is expected that on next
Monday morning, one' weex from today,
she will be in active service dredging on
Galveston bar.

Report Says Roosevelt Will Take His
Family There.
By Associated Press.
New York, Nov. 16.—A special cable
to the World from Rome says that it
is learned from a trustworthy source
that President Roosevelt is planning
to take his family to Rome in 1910.
Inquiries, it adds, are now being made
for a suitable villa and this, it is
thought, indicates a long stay in Italy.
Another item of great social interest

Lumber Is Still Most Used of Building
Materials.

Washington, D. C., Nov. 16.—Great as
the advance in fire proof construction
has been during the last 10 years, there
has been no decrease in the use of lum-

the bureau of forestry.
Both architects and builders admit,
it says, that the forests of the country
are likely to be the chief source of
building material for many years to
come. It states that the heavy demand
for lumber continues although all of
