To be anybody, to
accomplish anything for yourself or the
community, you cannot
drink—liquor destroys the mind and body.
Don’t swear—gentlemen do not. It is low
and vulgar. Don’t read trash literature.
It leads, to evil. Don’t hang around
loons. Good men are not made ,that way.
Whenever you see a man lying around a
•saloon the devil is after him and will get
him sooner or later. - Benjamin Franklin
wouldnever have accomplished anything if
he had been guilty of these practices. Be
honest, above all things. Poor boys make
the best future citizens. To make a good
man you must be a good boy. So start
right. The graveyards and jails are filled
with those who start wrong. The world
is growing better. The teachings of Christ
are beginning to be felt... Let me impress
upon you the only road to success is by
living a right life. Be honest, industrious,
frugal. It is not necessary to bo sancti-
monious—to wear a long face. Keep
laughing. Have a good time as you go
through life, but let it be the right sort of
good time. If we were all angels the world
would not be fit to liv® in.

SUMMARY OF WEATHER.
The area of low pressure notices yester-
day morning as central over New Jersey'
has passed out over the ocean, and a
“high” now occupies the Lake region, the
Ohio valley and the middle and north At-
lantic states. It is causing generally fair
and cool weather this morning over the
region under its influence, though showers
fell yesterday along the north Atlantic
coast. A “low” is central over South
Dakota and another over Arizona. The
pressure is high over the north Pacific
states. Light to heavy showers fell over
the middle and lower Mississippi valley
and the east Gulf states. Rain fell also in
North Dakota and the north Pacific states.
It has grown considerably cooler over the
middle Atlantic states and north of Min-
nesota. Over the upper Missouri valley
temperatures are considerably higher.
