However, we seldom forget
our billfolds. So I had an extra
house key made, and put it in
a corner of my billfold.
Since then it has come in han-
dy several times when I forgot
my keys.

Dear Heloise:
I sew a great deal, using cot-
ton, nylon, and silk thread
So I bought extra bobbins for
my machine and painted two of
them with rod nail polish for
nylon thread, two gold (with left-
over metallic paint) for silk
thread, and left the others "at
ia.”
I filled the extra bobbins with
the colors of thread I use most
often 7, <- t ,
This way I can tell at a glance
the kind of thread an a bobbin
for sewing and mending.
This is especially helpful for
someone who has more than one
sewing project going at the
same time — which I always
seem to have.

Dear Heloise:
I have found a practical use
for an old fur coat which 1 lack-
ed courage to toes away.
I cut It off at the underarm
It can be used In the bedroom,

A short hair coat will make
a nice toss pillow, using a sleeve

Here's a hint for apartment
dwellers who have to wrap and
tie up their garbage before put
ting it down the trash chute:
(Instead of buying string, cut
up old nylon stockings, starting
from the top and cutting in 1"
strips to the toe.
Wind the stripe into a baH
and you will have strong tins
when you need them.
Old slips and T-shirts can also
be used. T

Dear Marion:
Your mother might get more
lettuce for her money, but here
fa what the U.S. Department of
Agriculture says:
"Remember that a good bead
of lettuce is just that.
"The head should be firm,
but not too solid. Heavy, hard
lettuce often is lacing in the
most desired color.
“The greener tbe lettuce, the
better it will look, and the more
vitamins it will have.?
“They also gave us the follow-
ing Mannetien whieb I want to
pass along to all of'you:
“Remember, too, to store
lettuce in the refrigerator away
from fresh fruit. A gas given off
M the ripening process of
many fruits may cause the let-
tuce to spot ’
However, I buy my heaviest
and biggest head of tettace when
it's sold by “Each head." and
my greenest, firm, and not too
solid ones when sold by the
pound, and I’m way ahead!
Love Ya

Dear Heloise:
My mother taught me to buy
tbe most solid heads of lettuce
I could find.
She said it was a bettor buy,
especially when paying for it by
the head, rather than by weight
However, I don’t think it tast-
es as good as lettuce which is
a'iittie looser.
