New Lead In Neff
Case Is Followed
WASHINGTON a\P —Senate in-
vestigators are running down an
"entirely new lead" on the natural
gas bill activities of oil lobbyist
J..hn M Neff, Sen. Styles Bridges
(R .N. H.) disclosed Saturday.
Bridges said the new information
concerns a contact Neff allegedly
made with a Storm Lake, Iowa,
attorney in an attempt to see Sen.
Bourke R. Hickenlooper (R-lowa)
about the natural gas bill.
The new information caused the
blue ribbon Senate committee in
\estimating Neff's $2,500 campaign
lontribntion offer to Sen. Francis
Case (R-S. D.) to reopen its heat-
ings for further testimony Monday.
Earlier, the committee had ended
it:, bearings to begin writing a
final report

Fair And Colder
Weather Forecast
By UNITED PRESS
Fair weather prevailed over
most of Texas Saturday with the
exception of low clouds and thick
fog in the southeast and extreme
southern portions of the state.
Forecasters said the fog and
clouds would clear out during the
day as dry and slightly cooler
air moves in from the northwest.
Fair and a little cooler weather-
was exp.-cted over the state Sat-
urday night, but only the Pan-
handle and South Plains were ex-
pected to reach freezing. General
ly fair and mild weather will pre-
vail Sunday.
Low temperatures Saturday
ranged from 25 at Dalhart to 72
at Corpus Christi.

Parr Says County
Money Was 'Loan1
ALICE, Tex. Ci?>—-George R. j
Parr, the 54-year-oUl "Duke of Du-
val" county, says a transaction 10
years ago in which he ended up1
with $500,000 in Duval county i
funds was only a "loan."
Parr made the statement Fri-
day in an oral deposition taken in |
Alice by District Attorney Sam
Burris. It was in connection with ,
a $1 million civil suit brought!
against Parr by the state.
Tt e state contends Parr im-
properly used county money to
buy a 5fi,(M>0 acre ranch. It seeks i
leeuvery of the $500,001), plus ad-,
ditional money which it contends j
pari earned through operation ->f'
the big ranch, located in LaSalle, j
Webb and Jim Hogg counties. '
The suit is to be tried at Cotul-
la, Tex., the LaSalle county seat.
Parr also faces a series of state
and federal criminal charges
growing out of a long investiga-
tion into his powerful political or-
ganization.
