lie auctioned off the boxes and took
I in about $15, which will be used to
•buy desks for the school house. There
was a big crowd and lots of fun. The
Judge was presented with a fine bas-
ket of supper and he says he had I a»f
a dozen pretty women to help him eat
it. He was tendered a rising vote of
'thanks for his services—not for eating I
but as an auctioneer.

ciuent trips through the country in the
interest of the Journal, taking

The “Uenone,” a Christmas custoti '
of southern Italy, is also observed r

lower classes and is held on Christmas
