the commissioners of Matagorda coun-
ty are now in the vicinity of Houston
making a careful inspection of the
shell roads of Harris and Galveston
counties This precinct last Saturday
voted 1300,000 in bonds for the pur-
pose of building good roads and as
mud shell will, In all probability, be
the material used, these gentlemen
are making a study of the roads above
mentioned to learn the stability of the
roads as well as the methods by which
they were constructed.
Every care will be taken here to
make every dollar count and in as ef-
ficient manner as possible, and for that
reason our officials are making the ’
investigation.
Sheriff Frank Rugeloy received
telegram from Governor Colquitt to-
day in which a respite of two weeks
wa« granted Olegs Perry the negro
sentenced to hang Friday, March Mli.
The governor’s proclamation will
follow at a later date.
