An Important question se’dom
asked is: ‘Vrhttt Must'I Do Tu Be. M
Lost?” There are several an- ‘
swers. .
1. We cah do nothing and be'
lost. Many folks today arq^try-
ing do reach heaven on account
of their morality, yfnen
proached about their spiritual
condition they begin to list the
many bad things that they don’t'
do. But morality alone will not
save. We must do something
‘‘No'5 everyone that sai<h unto
nte, Lord, Lord, shall enter into
the kingdom pf heaven; but he
that doeth the will of ffty father
which is nt heaven.” Matt. 7:21
2. We can do only a part of
what God commands and be lost.
A "gooci Bible illustration of thiS
IS- the story of Saul._____He cap-
tured Amalek and des royed the
Amalekites. But he did not do
but part of what God command-
ed, hence he confessed that *T
have sinned”. Read 1 .Samuel
15:11-23. Today obey I
part of God’s commandments,
yet be lost.
3. - We can substitute some-
thing'for God’s commands aid b.>
lost. Abel offered his sac> if ice
by faith, but Cain substituted
his. Abel’s was accepted; Cain’s
was not. Hence, Caln did nut
---------- receive the approvai of Gcd.
‘‘Faith cometh by hearing, and
hearing by the word of tjod”
Rom. 10:17. So anything that
we substitute for the word of i
God is not by faith, and « rd
pleasing to Him. Today
make many substitutes. Some
substitute sprinkling or pouring
for baptism, and many other
commandments of men ace sub-
stituted- for God’s will.
4. We can do :nore ti'an
God commanded and be lost.
Numbers 20 tells us abour Mose*
who smote the rock. That was
more than God commanded and
was displeasing to God. The
command today is: ‘ For 1 testi-
fy untu every man that begreth
the words of the prap.iccy of
this book, If any man shall add
unto these things, God shall add
unto hiln the plagues that art-
writ en in this book.” Rev. 22:18
5. We can do the things God
has condemned and be lost.
After listing the. works of the ■
flesh, Paul • said, “Thu\ which
do such things shall not inherit •
the kingdom of God.” (Gal. 5:21).
Hence, if we do those thing:
which God has condcnu.ad we
will .be lost.
6. * We can do the tight thing
in the wrong spirit and be lost.
‘‘God'is.a Spirit: an 1 they that
worshjp Him must wot ;> Hii a
in spirit and in truth.” Jno. 3:24.
