ACALA COTTON BRINGS PREMIUM
San Augustine is at last corning into it own oil
the cotton market, due largely to about 4,000 acres of
Aenla cotton planted here this year. This cotton i
turning out almost as well at the gins a the shot'l
laple Half-and-llall cotton and when it is considered
that more bolls grow to the .stalk and, too, each boll
is considerably larger and heavier, the yield per acre
really is better than the llalf-nnd-Half, or short staph’
and when it sells it brings a much latter price tha'i
the short staph1. Only this week the Acala sold foi
22c on the local market when other cotton wa only
bringing 21'/|,c.
Seven out-of-town buyers were here this week hunt
ing our good laple that had formerly quit this mark1 l
because of the low grade and short staple. One buyer
> nine here from Oklahoma, having heard of our Aca'u
cotton, which carries staple of I •/» inches.
About 170(1 bushels of this good cotton was told
to the planter' around San Augustine from which
1,000 acres were planted tiiis season ami next year we
hope to report a much larger acreage Io this better
laple cotton. Our market has been raised conside r
ably as to base price ami will take another decided
increase next year provided the planters us this lietter
