have returned from three weeks
visiting with relatives at Shreve-
port, La., Birmingham, Ala., and
ether places in the East..

CAMP ROBERTS, Calif., Nov.
15—Pvt. Robert G. Zetzsche, son
of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Zetzsche of
Route 3, Bowie, Texas, is now
attending the wire school train-
ing with the 7th Armored Divis-
ion at Camp Roberts, Calif.
November 24 marks the sec-,
ond birthday of the 7th Armored
Division, stationed at Camp Rob-
erts, since it was reactivated as
.an infantry training division.
Camp Roberts is midway be-
tween San Fj-ancisco and Los

IT'S A GIRL FOR THE
RALPH MONROE'S, BORN
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 20
On Thursday, November 20, a
little girl arrived to make her
home with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Monroe of Gainesville, whom she
will call Mama and Papa.
The little miss weighed 5
pounds and 14 ounces and will
answer to Catherine Gail.
Her maternal grandparents are
Mr. and Mrs. H. Vehon of No-
cona, and paternal ’grandparents
are Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Monroe
of, Bowie.
Shown above is Rvt. Ira E.
Whitaker, son of Mrs. Ruie Whit-
aker, who is now stationed at
Fort Bliss^with the Aircraft Ar-
tillery. Ira is a graduate of Bowie
High School. He was employed
by Carter & Whitecotton before
volunteering for service with'the
U. S. Air Corps.

Major Yates
Had Interesting
Experience in Alaska
Major William Yates, after a
year in the Air Corps, six
months of which was spent in
Alaska, has returned to his for-
mer position as business mana-
ger of the Bowie Clinic and
Bowie Hospital. He took up his
work again here Nov. 17 and his
brother, Henry Yates, who has
been serving as the hospital man-
ager here, has accepted a simi-
lar position with the Essin Clinic
at Sherman.
Major Yates can recite some
interesting experiences in the
far north where he flew over
much of of the Alaskan terri-
tory and far down the Aleutian
chain.
He was on trips where he saw

Miss Nancy Clarke and room-

Jaycees Offer Aid
To C. of C. For
Christmas Program
The new organization of Jay-
cees is getting down to business
in a lively manner and have a
busy schedule on which they are
working for the remainder of
1952, culminating with their par-
ticipating in helping put on the
community Christmas tree pro-
gram, which was launched by
i the Senior Chamber of Com-
i merce “for the date of Decem-
ber 15, with the arrival of Santa
Glaus on that date,” accordTng’to
Jaycee President Bob Patterson.
The Jaycees have offered to be
responsible for a music program
at the Community Christmas
tree on evening of that date, pre-
ceding arrival of Santa Claus,
details about which, Patterson
said, are being worked out.
_The Jaycees’ first project has
been accomplished, that of call-
ing attention to traffic hazard in
heighth of traffic sign at inter-
section of highways 81 and 287
in Bowie. Through co-operation
of Loyd Tucker, State Highway
supervisor for this area, who
gladly made the change, Patter-
son said. Their second project is
well under way—the “Light a
Bumper for Safety” project.
Many rolls of the “warning”
tape for cars have been sold.
The Jaycees have arranged to
have Paul Cargill give a lecture
here soon on “Parliamentary
Procedure."

The Good Will Class of the
First Methodist Church met Mon-
day evening, November 15 for
the monthly meeting with Mmes.
Joe Spears, Delbert Bird, Elton
Loveall and T. F. Wright as the
hostesses.
Mrs. Matt Lyon led the group
in a short devotional period
with the closing prayer by Mrs.
Ed Morgan.
The meeting adjourned and
turned over to the hostesses for
a most enjoyable social hour.
Mrs. T. W. Wright had charge
of the entertainment, then were
invited to the dining room where
Quarter tables were set for the
guests, each table had a center-
piece, a bud vase with a single
rose, the roses were from Mrs.
Bird’s garden. The appointments
and dessert course carried out
the Thanksgiving theme.

The Bowie High School girl’s
basketball team has the follow-
ing round robin schedule for
this season. The girls have an
unusually good team this year.
Here’s hoping that everyone will
support them whole-heartedly
and come to all of the home
games. You will have a wonder-
ful time and the Jackrabbit gals
will always be in there fighting,
win or lose.
The coming district schedule:
FIRST ROUND
December 12, 1952, Bowie at
Nocona.
December 16, 1952, Bowie at
Decatur.
January 6, 1953, Jacksboro^ at

January 15, 1953, Bowie-bye.
January 23, 1953, Nocona at

SECOND ROUND

little man will answer to Wil-
liam Larry and weighed 7
pounds and 6 ounces.
