Twining Leaves
For Soviet Visit
■
- WASHINGTON GB-Gen. Na-
fhan F. Twining. Air Force chief
of staff, said todiy on leaving
for Moscow that the Soviets have
given him an “interesting" itin-
erary for visits outside the Rus;
.dan capital.
Twining also told reporters as
he boarded his plane that he
woyld like to ride in Soviet war-
planes.
He said be was given last night
an itinerary for his visit which
made it ’dear” that he and the
nine officers accompanying him
would get out of the Moscow area
after^he formal tfif 'parade next
Sunday. The Soviet government
invited him.to Moscaw for an air
cclebration. ' ; ' 4
Asked whether he had an in-
vitation in his pocket for a fte-
turn visit by Russian air force
officials, Twining repled,."! do
not."
This would nave a direct, un-
favorable impact’’ on U. S. de-
fenses. he said. -;
The commander of North At-
lantic Treaty Organization forces
in Europe told the Senate Ap-
