QUESTION 3. If you answered
‘yes to number one and nd--to
number two, what specific tax
sources do you feel should be
tapped if more revenue is need-
._______________________________________ ■'
ANSWER: It is my opinion that
alcholic beverages and natural
resources (not now being taxed
to a high degree) are two specific
sources "from which we could ob-
tain large amounts of money to
bolster the State Treasury. Cer-
tainly there are other sources
which can be used to obtain ad-
ditional funds without causing
an added tax burden on any
particular group or specific’ in-
dividuals.
It is my hope that these ans-
wers will be helpful to you and
to tfll voters of this district to
select a proper and suitable State
Representative for our area (Ar-
cher, Clay and Montague Coun-
ties.) If you or any person has
additional questions to ask me
pertaining to my candidacy,
please advise me. It will be a
pleasure indeed to have the op-
portunity.
Very sincerely,
JACK CRAIN
Candidate for
— State Representative of
Archer, Clay and Montague
Counties.
Louisiana it is $10 per barrel and
in Arkansas it is $4.84 per bar-
rel.
I voted to increase the tax on
beer to $10 per barrel and would
do so again to help solve the fi-
nancial problem Texas faces. I
feel the tax on whiskey should
be increased to $5 per gallon at
the same time.
Thank you for giving me this
opportunity to put my views- on
state financing before the voters.
