We definitely need a generation
gap—without it, parents would be doing the
, same foolish things children do, says Dr.
Jennie Kitching, family life education
specialist with the Texas AGricultural Ex-
1, tension Service, Texas A&M University.
Four teachers in the Bells school will leave
the classrooms wien the last bell rings at the
end of this year. It will be “school’s out” for
good for them. Teaching the longest is Mrs.

spending her entire teaching career in Bells.

those years have been in Bells. She taught in
New Fulp, Nocona and Ector. She has taught
third grade here for 28 years. For two
summers she taught Head Start School in
Whitewright and one summer each, taught
school in Randolph and Grapevine. But, she
said, “Bells school will always be home
sweet home to me.”
Mrs. Pearl Washbum is a hometown
teacher and during her 35 years of teaching,
has taught two generations of friends and
relatives. During World War II, she taught in
Denison and in Florida, returning to Bells
when her husband was discharged from the
army. She also taught five of the seven
trustees on one board that she has worked
with.
Mrs. Sallye Kennedy has taught the least
number of years, but as she said, “27 years is
