Dear Dan,
Yours of April 23rd just received,
I telephoned this morning to arcel FRELAUX to extend him
and his wife your invitation at your house while in Galveston.
He has been very sensible and said he certainly will go
to your home, but unfortunately cannot give exact dates just
now and hope you will understand it.
Very frankly, although it is not necessary,
I told him all the charms of the hostess and the host and how
they would like your beautiful place and grand hospitality.
I am trying to-day to get for them rooms on
SS."LIBERTE" leaving Havre May 22nd. They do not know yet if
they will go to the rTashington Conference first and then go to
Houston and Galveston, or do the reverse.
For the present, their plans are to leave
May 22nd and return June '5 or 30th. The return is extremely
difficult to obtain, if it was impossible may be they would
take a cargo from Houston or Galveston but it takes 16 or
17 days and they do not know if they can spare all that time.
All of this is to explain that they cannot give exact date, which
I am sure Jeane would like to have. Of course, I will let you
have the details. As you know, we are very close friends and
he or me practically phone each other every day.
What a pity that Sabine and myself cannot go
_ith them, it would be such fun to be all together in Galveston!
You surely will like LiMadeleine (his wife) but
be careful, she speaks terribly quickly, she is full of life
and very charming, you will surely enjoy them.
It seems to me that you are fishing for compli-
ments Dan. You certainly know that your visiis to Europe are
worthwhile and every body, customers and agents, think it is
absolutely necessary that you come over, and more often would
be bet:,er. There are also your friends, besides business,
who are so pleased to see you and Jeane.
