Within the southwest area that

ara more than 3000 crippled children
nracticallr all of whom could be
cured under nrooer surgical care The
hospital board plans to build in time
a series of buildings at Albuquerque
to accommodate all the crippled
children of New Mexico. Arisona
west Texas and southern Colorado.
At present a modern four-story
building accommodates hundreds of
fthfldren each Tear
The hospital at Albuquerque is the
only hospital devoted to the chari-
table care of crippled or sick child-t-r
in the resrion extending: from
Denver on the north to the Gulf of
Mexico on the soutn. ana irom nan-
sas City to Los Angeles.
Appreciation Shown.
Funds for the hospital are being
received from cities and towns end
homes in all the four states included
in the territory around the hospital
and many letters of appreciation ac
company the contributions. In many
instances mothers have sent money
in memory of their sons who died on
the field of honor in France. In
other cases fathers have sent con-
tributions in thanksgiving that their
children are blessed with strong
healthy bodies.
Heretofore the work of the home
and hospital has been greatly handi-
capped by not having the capacity to
accommodate all deserving cases.
Contributions Asked.
In almost every case the treatment
needed Is of such an extended nature
that the average hospital does not
care to take the case or even though
the parents of the child are not des-
titute the expense of the extended
case makes it impossible for them to
take advantage of the hospitals in
their vicinity.
The superintendent of the concern
urges anyone knowing of a crippled
child needing charitable help to noti-
fy the hospital. It Is the motive of
all connected with the home and hos-
pital to try to give every child a
strong an 4 healthy body.
Anyone wishing to contribute to
the the fund may either contribute
direct to the superintendent of the
institution. Dr. C. E. Lufeene. at Al-
buaueroue. or through James O. Mc-
Nary sad Frank P. Jones of El Paso
who are members of the board of
