OMAHA Neb. Apr. 23.—When E«r!
Caddock of Ainta. lowu defeated Joe
Stelher of Dodge. Nebraska thereby tak-
ing the championship from Steelier and Ne-
braska back to Iowa where it was held for
many years by Frank Goteh lie started a
rivalry between the two state* for wrest-
ling supremacy that bids fair to risult in
many hard-fought matches.
Already Caddock has I teen challenged by
two of Nebraska's most promising wrest-
ler!!—Martin Plc-tina of Omaha and Jack
Taylor of Lincoln. Both had signed arti-
dltt to meet &t«cher hut wbeu he was de-
feated the Dodge county man called otf
both bout*.
Caddock has promised to meet either of
these men as soon as lie lias bud a rest. In
the meantime efforts will lie made to have
Plestina and Taylor meet the winner to

Billy Evan; Umpire
Unique; Gets Flowers
- '• * « :#«#
(By AsHociuted Treag.)
DETROIT Mich. Apr. 23.—Billy Evans
the American league umpire is one of the
few living arbitrators who ever has receiv-
ed a gift of flowers on the hall field.
During the opening game between De-
troit and Cleveland a big bunch of Ameri-
can Beauties was presented to the umpire
by a Cleveland hanker. Evans was over-
come with surprise and nearly overwhelmed
by emotion. Thi" story however does not
end here. Thi" is the reason:
Harry Tuthill trainer of the Detroit club
took charge of the flowers. Tuthill is
sometimes absent-minded. He was on this
occasion for he took the flowers borne.
“My where did you get the bouquet?”
asked Mr". Tuthill. “Oh they were a pres-
ent today from my admiring friends” -aid
Tuthill.
“Splendid who were the friend" liar
ry?” i."ked Mr". Tuthill.
“For tin* lir"t time in iiiv life I was
-lumped I couldn't answer" Tuthill said
"peaking of the incident.

Of the Brownsville teams Weller and I
Kendall were the individual stars while'
Walter Savage of the Pharr-San Juan
schools annexed a goodly number of points
for the visitors. Among the juniors Joe
Vivier Owen Combe nnd Joe Barrens did
excellent work for the local school while
Robert Savage a brother of the senior star
from Hidalgo was among those present
when places were awnrded in most of the
events.
Inmeron county also annexed enough
points in the spelling and declamatory con-
tests which added to the winning by a
