A mountain lion sometime* called a
Mexican lion and often a puma. wa*
brought in |a*t night by a jauty ot

Cnxell. The lion which wa* hit twice in
tin head a rifle being u*ed mea*ure* *i\
feet and four inches. ami weighs probablv

largest ever killed in tin* section being
slightly larger perhap*. than the lion
killed two year* ago near Wayinoudville b\
Judge J. ('. tleorge «• l Brownsville.
The lion was shot on the San Woman
ranch about twenty-one mil* * ea*t ot
Brownsville. Versions a* t«> who killed the
lion are greatly at variance with the ex-
ception of the fact that the lion wa*
killed that one *hot killed him and one
grazed hi* h* ad. Who actually tired tin
-hot that did the work however nuiv never
be definitely known for:
Mr. West -aid:

feet. At fir-t- liecan-e of I lie growing

at him and the leap and growl a--ured me

vastly larger than a eat. I'il admit that
my -eeond shot wa- ‘kinder -potitatieou-

Mr. Rutledge’- statement wa- brief but
to the point:
“I had just -tarted to -hoot at two del r

I fired and the lion tell. That - all there
wa - t «h» it.
Mr. (Yixell also wa- brief lie said lie

and it fell.
It wa- a rather convincing statement
that Ole-tino. the Mexican guide made:

The animal wa- thi- morning on display
