Benito city commission held Tuesday
night a letter from 4. G. Rossman man-
ager of the water company w.is read

had made a contract with a contractor
for the laying of new mains and a re-
quest was made tn proceed with the
work.
At a recent election bonds were voted

mission has been withheld by the city

the most important gatherings of
Chamber of Commerce secretaries in
the history of the Snu»hwe«4 Hi»«i-
ness Conference is anticipated in the

State Fair here Friday Oct. 13 ac-
costing to local officials. Accept-
ances ho far have been received from
about 40 chamber secretaries it is
reported.
"The conference was called by the
Dallas Chamber for rtie reason that
the southwest is a larger territory
with many peculiar problems that
are largely similar throughout the
entire district” President Frank M.
Smith declared. "It was felt that a
conference of secretaries represent-
ing every phase of business indus-
try and activity in the Southwest
would be highly beneficial. Alvin
K. Dodd of Washington D. (’. an of-
ficial of the t'hamher of Commerce
of the United States will be one of
the principal speakers. Other pro
i minent out-of-town speakers will be
