Las Cruces. N. M. Sept. 2S. Fran-
cisco Flores was arrested yesterday at
his home near Dona Ana by deputy
marshal Bloom charged with cutting
and taking away timber from reserved
land at the Leasburg dam. This makes
the last arrest for which warrants
have been issued in this connection.
Probate clerk Isidore Armijo and
family left yesterday for Albuquerque
where thev will visit for a few days
and then go to Santa Fe where they
will make their home during; the ses-
sion of th constitutional convention
to which Mr. Armijo is one of the dele-
gates from this counts'.
A nine pound daughter arrived yes-
terday at the home of Dr. and Mrs. R.
E. McBride.
The Ladies of the Maccabees held
their regular meeting; yesterday after-
noon. J. S. A. Martin of Socorro brand
inspector for the 8th district was in
Las Cruces yesterday on official busi-
ness connected with the shipment of
a car load of horses.
Mrs. Henriquetta Bloom formerly of
El Paso who was arrested here about
six weeks ago on a charge of keeping:
a disorderly house and who was fined
$50 and costs was rearrested yester-
day. At her first ?trial she was sen-
tenced to 60 days in jail in addition
to the fine but the jail sentence was
suspended pending good behavior.
Complaint wa.'s made yesterday against
her and the justice 'of the peace com-
mitted her to jail for the 60 days of
the suspended sentence.
The district court docket for the Oc-
tober term shows 55 criminal cases of
which five are for murder. There are
also 177 civil cases making a heavy
docket.

Las Cruces N. hr. Sept. 3 Arrange-
ments were completed yesterday by
which the Las Cruces lodge of Elks
will bring- a carnival company here for
a four-da3-s' carnival beginning- Oc-
tober 24. The lodg:e expects to make a
big start on its building- fund. The
lodge is making- preliminary arrange-
ments for the construction of a lodge
home and club and this is one of a
series of entertainments which will be
given for the purpose of obtaining the
necessary money.

TO INCENSE TRANSIENTS.
Las Cruces. N. M.. Sept. 28. A peti-
tion is being circulated among the resi-
dents of Las Cruces asking- that the
board of town trustees pass an ordi-
nance placing a license upon all people
doing a business of a transient nature
such as traveling shows theatricals
photographers peddlers bill distribu-
tors etc. This license is asked for to
protect the town merchants who are
compelled at present to pay a mer-
chants' tax. The petition contains the
names of most of the taxpayers of
this town and will no doubt be acted
upon favorably by the trustees at their
next meeting on Monday evening Oc-
tober 5.

Kxing the Lincoln Land
District Again.
Las Cruces X. M. Oct. 28. After re-
scinding the executive order of Au-
gust 4 president Taft has issued an-
other executive order which reestabl-
ishes the boundaries of the Lincoln
land district in the territory of New
Slexico placing the Mescalero reser-
vation in the Jurisdiction of the Ros-
well land office Instead of that at Las
Cruces. The order is as follows:
Beginning on the boundary line be-
tween the 'state of Texas and the ter-
ritory of New Mexico where the first
standard parallel south intersects the
same; thence west along said parallel
to the range' line between ranges 15
and 16 east: thence north along said
range line allowing for proper off-
sets on the base line to the town-

line to the range line between ranges
8 and 9 east; thence south along said

Ditch; Delegates Have Gone to Pu-
eblo; Upper "Valley News.
La Union N. M. Sept. 28. During
the past week four large tracts of land
have been sold and water rights ac-
quired on many acres of new lands in
La Union ditch. This ditch Is now be-
ing cleaned and enlarged to Insure suf-
ficient water supply for the many newi
farms being put under cultivation.
The ditch is now the . largest on the
west side of the river.
L. H. Brandt has ordered a fine new
carriage.
M. G. Eighmey secretary and treas-
urer of La Union Community Ditch
company and HunJboldt Casad com-
missioner of the same were appointed
delegates to the National Irrigation
congress representing this section.
They left on the special train for Pu
eblo Colorado.
Miss HelSn Longnemare who recent-
ly returned from Mount St Vincent-on-the-
Hudson New York is spending a
few days with El Paso friends.

probate clerk of Dona Ana county:

Three Saints Ditch of the same county
quitclaim deed to all that part and
portion of the ditch and canal of the
party of the first part together with
the rightofway thereof beginning at
a point at the northerly line of the
Hugh Stephenson or Brazito grant and
extending In a southerly direction to
the terminus thereof. Consideration
$1 and as a further consideration the
prrty of the second part agrees to
jlean operate and maintain such por-
tion of the ditch or ditches of the party
of the first part hereinbefore described
as may be necessary to carry all sur-
plus waters flowing from the main ditch
of the party of the first part.

man has sold five lots to C. E Miller
and Epimenio Pena 20 lots in the Mil-

Geek of El Paso bought two.
M. Hintze of El Paso is running the
flour mill this year turning out 60
barrels daily. A storage space of 30
by 30 has been added to the mill ware-
house. All bins and storage tanks are
full and wheat is being refused on that
account the surplus going to the Globe
mills El Paso. The 'price has been 1
per bushel.
The Bailey &. "Wallace thresher is noy
working in this vicinity. They have
shipped from here a carload of toll
wheat to El Paso and are loading an-
other. From their home ranches near
Canutillo they shipped three carloads
to the Globe mills-
Bran is selling for $1.50 f. o. b La
Tuna carload lots. Hay $15.80 per ton.
The Berino-Anthony Farmers' asso-
ciation has up to date shipped 300
carloads of alfalfa monthly to east
Texas points and have rebilled 106 car-
loads for the Mesilla Valley association.

John Snyman are an association com-
mittee anent the coming El Paso fair.
A diploma and photographs of last
year's exhibits are now decorating the
walls of secretary Bowden's office at
the new warehouse.
P. H. Bailey has gone on a two
weeks hunting trip In the Mogollons
with Mr. Allen of EI Paso and Roy and
Jim Hogan now of Clifton Ariz.
