and telephone it or bring it into the
office where it Is carefully edited and
scrutinized. Very often there are
doubtful matters to verify. It would
give you a new insight into the work
of the daily newspaper if you could
sit a few hours besides our editorial
force and note the energy and skill
that go int. verifying the news. We
are responsible for our errors unlike
the ordinary man in the street and )
we have to make every human effort
to get things right. Sometimes 15 or

views are necessary in rder to '
straighten out some little tangle. You
note lots of errors typographical or in
statements of fact. Kemember there

average paper all of which have to be

TWO SMALL FIRES ARE
REPORTED IN 15 MINUTES
Two fires within 15 minutes were re-
ported to the Central department Wed-
nesday afternoon. The first blaze de-
stroyed a quantity of clothing in the
home of & Moser at 504 East Missouri
street it originating in a closet Mr.
and Mrs. Moser were in the business
district of the city at the time and on
returning home found the rooms full of
smoke. An alarm was turned in and the
blaze extinguished by the department
