AT HOSPITALITY
The attractive country home of
Mrs. I. R. Stahl was the scene of
a prettily appointed breakfast Sat-
- urday morning when Mrs. Stahl
entertained for Mis* Bobby Payne
and a group of her friends.
The room was beautiful with
masses of spring flowers artistic-
ally arranged. Pur the breakfast
tables sweet i^as were used ex-
clusively for ff ra! decoration. V

on tables of other guests silver
baskets of sweet ocas were placed.
While the guests were seated at
breakfast tables. Mrs. Shirley Gud-

for Miss "Payne announcing her
marriage to M. L. Dew Jr. on June
20.

HAS BUSY MEETING
The Weslaco Girl Reserves were
hostess to the Valley Inter-Club
Council at a three course luncheon
given in the Home Economics room
at the high school on Saturdav May
II at 12:30 o’clock.
An assortment of roses in baskets
and vases were used for the table
decorations.

The club voted to send flowers to
the president Miss Holdridce who
was in the hospital following an
•utomoblle accident.
The retiring gave a financial re-
port of the club at present.
Seven delegates were appointed
to attend Camp Mvstic at Kerrville
which is to be held in June and
July. Miss Thalia Mitchell was
elected to go from the Weslaco club
The date set for the Rio Hondo
eamp was June (t. to July lfl. and
is open to all Girl Reserves of the
Valley.

WELL ATTENDED
The All-Valley Epworth League
rally was held at the Methodist
church Friday night with a large at-
tendance.
R. A. Dudley conference chairman
presided at the meeting.
The Rev Bolton Boon of San An-
tonio who is conference superin-
tendent of Epworth league was the
principal speaker of the evening.
Representatives were present from
Brownsville La Fcria. Mercedes
Donna and Harlingen.
In the speeches that were given
leaguers were urged to attend the
encampment at Kerrville which is to
meet in June.
Refreshments were served at the
close of the meeting to fifty repre-
sentatives and guests.

CLUB
Mrs. G. C McRobcrts was the
charming hostess to members of the
Rainbow Bridge club Thursday af-
ternoon at her home on Kansas
avenue.
A lavish grouping of spring flow-
ers formed a delightful springtime
setting for the occasion which was
also carried out in the tallies.
In the afternoon Mrs. Seth Dun-
can was presented with first prize |
and Mrs Ben C. Wood second.
At the close of the games a
salad course was served to seven
members.
Mrs. Schwcidler will be hostess to
the club members next Thursday.

PLANS COMPLETED
FOR FESTIVAL
The Altar society of the Catholic
church had its regular weekly meet-
ing Thursday at the home of Mrs.
J D. Auer in Weslaco with all its
members present.
Flans were completed and final
irrangements were made for the
: festival to be held at the church
on Saturday May 10 and 11.

BY TWO HOSTESSES
One of the prettiest parties of
the season was the one given Sat-
urday afternoon. at the Casa de
Palmas tea room by Mrs. A. P.
Vannoy and Mr3. J. C. Paxton as
joint hostesses.
The tea room was beautifully dec-
orated with bowls of phlox In dainty
hues. A May pole adorned the
large round table with streamers
in the pastel shader. Attached to
each streamer was found a tally In
the shape of a little May Day lady.
Mrs. Sam Bazzell received the
first priz^ Mrs. A. Nix second and
Mrs. I. W. Berryhill the consolation.
Assisting the hostess were Mes-
