DONNA Aug. 14 —Members of the
Eastern Star and their families and
Masons and their families enjoyed
a wonderful chicken barbecue Tues-
day night at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. John Hensley. The occasion was
in commemoration of the birthday
of Robert E. Morris .the founder of
the Order of the Eastern Star. This
birthday is observed every year. Mrs.
Walter Weaver gave a very enter-
taining talk about Robert E. Morris
and told some cf the influences in
his life \which had led to the found-
ing of the Order. About 75 guests
were present to enjoy the picnic of
the evening of fellowship.

Mr. and Mrs. Bracken and daugh-
ters. Yleen and Marcella and Polly
Truax enjoyed an outing of several
days at Boca Chica.
Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Lowe and
Miss Margaret Lowe have return-
ed home from a interesting and en-
joyable vacation trip to Carlsbad
Cavern Grand Canyon and Pikes
Peak. On their return to San An-
tonio Miss Lowe left them to re-
turn to her home in Pinestone
Minn.

Endeavor Has
Union Rally
Here Lately
Sixty-five members of the Chris-
tian Endeavor union of Cameron
and Willacy counties gathered at
the Central Christian church Tuea-
dav evening for the regular rally.
Theme of the meeting was •Prohibi-
txr.” with all the Interesting talks
ot the evening being on one or more
phases of that subject
Rev. Wingo of Weslaco was guest
sixaker for the occasion. The ser-
wot was opened by Rev. Oliver of
San Benito who gave the devotion-
al. An interesting talk also was giv-
en by Miss Elizabeth Myrick of
Harlingen.
Following the program a social
hour was enjoyed by the members

Christian Endeavor organizations:
Biownsville. San Benito. Harlingen.
Santa Maria Briggs-Coleman and
Ric Hondo.

Of Churches
To Gather

RIO HONDO Aug. 15. — Approxi-
mately 100 voices are to be heard in
song here Friday night at the Com-
munity church when the various
young peoples organisations of all
of the Rio Hondo Protestant
churches will meet to organise for
participation with the State Youth
Movement.
The young people coopeiatmg with
the Youth Movement wil1 work with
u*e prohibition campaign now being
staged in Texas.
A United Young Peoples choir will
be a feature of the meeting with
Mrs. Milton Rogers and B. T. Bullis
in charge of the choir. An out of
town speaker will be featured on the
program All Rio Hondo pastors are
cooperating and all Rio Hondo is
invited.

Announcement has been made of
the marriage of Miss Virginia Ruth
Harllee of Donna (laughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Harllee of Donna
to Mr. Leo B. Deely of Brownsville
son of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Deely also
of Donna. The ceremony took place
Thursday evening August 8.
The bride is an attractive and
popular member of the younger set
in Donna and the groom also has
many friends in Brownsville and oth-
er parts of the Valley.
Mr. and Mrs. Deely will make their
home in Brownsville.

Hostess To The
Lutheran Aid
The Ladies Aid of the Lutheran
church met Wednesday afternoon at
the church with Mrs. Ella Brown as
hostess. There were 12 members of
the organisation present.
Rev. O. E. Schmidt pastor of the
church gave the devotional A reg-
ular business meeting was held. The
hostess served a delightful refresh-
ment course at the doee of the aft-
ernoon.

For Triple L Club
.Dance Thursday
Over 225 invitations have been
sent out in Brownsville and in other
{parts of the Valley for the dance to
1 be given Thursday night by members
of the Triple L club. The affair will
take place at the Country Club be-
ginning at 8:30 p. m.
Music will be furnished by Bob
Hanna and his orchestra.
The Triple L club organized about
six months ago is a social organ-
ization. So far three dances have
been given by the members.
