Chats about taking a class with Rupe, that Rupe joined the American Legion and then discusses, at length, her need for a job. There is a possibility for her to substitute teach but when he comes home he can help her. She notes that Kathryn Barnes works for her dad explaining that she runs into the store almost every day for a coke and while there teases Mr. Barnes about paying Kathryn to go out and get cokes. This collection was assembled by Thomas Norwood Carswell (1887-1978) and contains correspondence throughout his life. His files hold letters signed by most of the major political leaders of Texas during the 1940s through the 1960s, as well as letters signed by Presidents Harry S Truman, Richard M.
