Description
A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Sam Russell, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., dated January 29, 1941. Russell acknowledges receipt of the letter from Carswell recommending Mr. E. D. Thomas for mail carrier and informs Carswell that he had already made recommendation of Mr. Strawn for the transfer, his being a disabled war veteran. He also received Carswell's telegram in regard to a bill to continue the Dies Committee of which he is heartily in favor.

This collection was assembled by Thomas Norwood Carswell (1887-1978) and contains correspondence throughout his life. His files hold letters signed by most of the major political leaders of Texas during the 1940s through the 1960s, as well as letters signed by Presidents Harry S Truman, Richard M. Nixon, Senator Lyndon B. Johnson, and George Washington Carver. It also contains a scrapbook of his time at Simmons College.
