high ground in the canyon. They
wore on a Sunday afternoon picnic
when the Palo Duro Creek got out
of its bank* from recent rains in
the Panhandle

to them in a boat Sunday night
about midnight.
There is only one road out of the
canyon snd thete are no bridges
over the creek. Hesvy rain* re
cently in the upper Panhandle sent
tons of water raging down the
creek Sunday, cutting off the only
road out of the canyen.
Highway patrol and Randall
county officers were organising op
erations to rescue the group early
Monday.

Monday morning.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Taylor
have received word at the death
of Mr. Taylor's grand nephew,
the little seven-year old son of Mr.
and Mrs. Marvin Houser The boy
was hit by a car driven bv s

hospital ten minutes after being hit.
Mr. and Mrs. Houser were in Okla-
homa City.
