London, Conn., or Sao Pedro, Calif.

The following ratings are also needed: Gunners
Mates, Electricians (general), Firemen, Sea-
men, Quartermasters and Ship Cooks. The above
named men are needed for submarine duty.
Men enlisted for this duty will be sent to subma-
rine base, New London or San Pedro, for special
training of from two to four months. Many large
modern submarines are now under construction
and will be completed in the near future. The
submarines will undoubtedly see service in all
parts of the world. At present large submarine
bases are located at Cocosolo, C. Z., New London,
Conn., Key West, Fla., Cavite, P. L, Hampton
Roads, Va., San Pedro, Calif., and Pearl Harbor,
Hawaii.
The following article is in regard to the Subma-
rine school at the Submarine base, New London,
Conn. Four hundred and fifty men with previous
service are needed as soon as possible. The
ratings most needed are Machinist mates, En-
ginemen, Gunner’s Mates (Torpedo), Electri-
cians (radio), Electricians (Gyro).
Men serving on board submarines, receive $5.00
per month additional pay. Men qualified for sub-
marines receive $1.00 per dive, not to exceed
$15.00 per month.
