give its second concert of the season
on the evening of Feb., 29th, .at the
Scottish Rite Cathedral on which oc-
casion* the society presents Mr. Elli-
son Van Hoose the American tenor

great musical treat.
Miss Reecca’ Trueheart one of the
bridal attendants at the Neville-Pal-
mer nuptials to be solemnized in Hous-
ton the latter part of the month is
enjoying all of the pre-nuptial affairs
to be given in honor of bride and
groom elect.
Mr. and Mrs. Waters S. Davis and
daughter, Miss Emma Davis, sailed on
the Mallory liner Alamo this afternoon
for their winter home in Florid?..
The “Five Hundred” club, of which
they are members, tendered Mr. and
Mrs. Ben Dolson Jr. a surprise party
last evening in honor of their twenty-
anniversary, which
proved to be a total surprise to the
honorees and a thoroughly delightful
affair.
The club met at Mr. and Mrs. J. W.
Daley’s residence, and accompanied by
minstrel musicians .stormed the Dolson
residence at 8.15.
After a shower of hearty congratula-
tions for many happy returns of the
day, tables were arranged for the club
game. A great surprise was in stonq
for even the club members. The games
were played and every one thought
no prizes were to be awarded., but Mr.
Ben Dolson III jumped in his touring
car and was back in time before hi^
absence was noticeable. Examining
each score, he then presented the fol-
lowing handsome souvenirs:
Mrs. Steve Sgitcovich received the
first prize for the ladies, a half dozen
Cluny lace and linen plate doilies.
The first prize for the gentlemen
was won by Mr. Larry P. Dignan. His
trophy was a set of large silk hand-
kerchiefs. The consolation souvenir
for the ladies, a half dozen French
hand-embroidered handkerchiefs, was
drawn by Mrs. E. J. Geehan.
Mr. Steve Sgitcovich received a box
of neckties.
Mr. Walter De Ison drew the booby
prize for the gentlemen, a miniature
pig.
Mrs. John Christensen drew the
bcioby for the ladies, a daintily mount-
ed picture entitled “Stung.”
After the game a luncheon of chick-
en patties, potato chips, coffee case
and candy was served.

The following settings of criminal
Mr. and Mrs. Bartlett Doe Moore en-
tertained with a bowling party at the
Garten Verein last evening in honor
of their sister Miss Lorna VioletByr-
ne, which was the social event' of last
evening. The event was a most de-
lightful one, more in the nature of a
frolic than a formal social affair. The
prize for^he young ladies was a large
Dutch Bon-bon Silver spoon, which
was won by Miss Chambers. Mr. Chs.
Fowler, Sr., received the prize for the
gentlemen, a silver cigarette case.
These were very handsome souvniers
of the event. About sixty guests en-
joyed this charming hospitality among
whom were a number of married
friends of the host and hostress. The
latter enjoyed a most interesting
game of bridge at the club house.
Among the out-of-town Guests were:
