Marshall has two building and loan associa-
tions with ample capital to build hundreds of
homes. These companies should not be confused
with the fake 3 per cent loan companies nor should
they be considered in the same class as many com-
' panies under the name of building and loan asso-1
ciations that formerly flourished
crease of 3.5 per cent. This is anything but en-
couraging and we can only hope that in the tre-
mendous job of securing this information that
mistakes may have been made.
It is claimed by some writers on economics
that the automobile is responsible for this de-
crease, while other writers maintain the opposite
result, claiming that the auto has been the cause
of the building of many suburban homes.
Whatever the cause for this decline in home
owning the country is the poorer when people
fewer and fewer do not own their homes.
