The price of electricity supplied by Texas Power &
Light has gone up in recent years, but lignite coal
has kept the increase from being much greater.
In the 1960’s, natural gas, for many years the
only fuel used to produce electricity at TP&L
generating plants, began to rise drastically in
price and supplies became uncertain. TP&L and
two affiliated companies began a massive
program to reduce their dependency on gas by
building plants which use lower-cost lignite
as fuel.
Since 1971, eight lignite-fueled generating units
have been placed in operation. In 1978, about 47
per cent of TP&L’s fuel requirements was sup-
plied by lignite. For the average TP&L residential
customer who used 12,435 kilowatt-hours of
electricity in 1978, use of lignite to produce that
= electricity meant a saving of $55.00.

There are many people
who have a difficult time
swallowing pills. For chil-
dren, it is often a good
idea to grind tablets into a
powder and then mix with
fruit juice, apple sauce, or
a similar food. To swallow
a capsule, it often helps,
after taking a large sip of
water, to tip your head
forward. The forward tilt
helps it to go down the
pharynx more easily.
When taking any pill,
place it as far back on
your tongue as possible.
Take a substantial sip of
water, close your eyes,
swallow, and hope for the
best.

Marinas are exempt from
Governor Bill Clements’ odd-and-
even gasoline allocation order and
therefore not affected, according
to a ruling requested by the
Boating Trades Association of
Texas on behalf of the state’s
marine enthusiasts.
Ed Vetter, special energy advisor
to Governor Clements, issued the
clarifying ruling on marinas and
several other points causing con-
fusion among members of the
marine industry in the counties
that are involved in the odd and
even allocation plan.
Vetter also clarified confusion
