Curiosity killed a cat and,
while it hasn’t killed any
homeowners that we know of,
it has caused a lot of trouble. A
“For Sale by Owner” sign in
the yard attracts all kinds of
people. For many, the chief at-
traction is simply curiosity.
Yet, the homeowner can’t be
sure so the curiosity seeker is
invited in, shown the property
and given as much time as a
legitimate buyer.

Allen overcame an 8 day layoff Thursday with a
surprisingly easy 10-1 victory over Commerce as the
game signaled the beginning of the District 11-AAA
second half for both schools.
The Eagles had downed Commerce twice before
including a 7-4 victory for the first half champion-
ship on April 29. And, not surprisingly, the Allen
coaches felt the Tigers would come out smoking, or,
lay down and play dead.
The latter proved to be more accurate. The Eagles
took advantage of 5 Tigers errors, stole 12 bases and
scored 6 of their 10 runs after there were 2 outs.
“I can’t complain about it,” answers Coach Marc
McDaniel humbly. “We felt the revenge motive
might be a factor in the way they (Commerce) would
play. But I don’t think it would have mattered to-
day. We just played good all-around ball.”
Allen’s defense backed the 3 Eagles pitchers with
outstanding defense, despite a 2-base error that set
up Commerce’s only run in the fifth inning. That
same inning, with Allen now leading 8-1, Scott
Trapp, Mark Lewis and Mike Malone worked a
double-play that got pitcher George Benyola out of
the inning.
